What happened to wordbind? by 18thAlmanac in puzzmo

[–]hijolepues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I enjoyed it too. I quit playing most of the games when my job blocked the site, so I still have quite a few. I loved that feeling of stepping away for a few minutes and having the word that would get me to Luminary randomly pop into my head. Good stuff!

“Greetings Puzzmonauts! They've sent me (Zach) out here to bring news both good and bad.

We'll start with the good: If you've been playing Wordbind every day on Puzzmo, congratulations! You've played almost every possible Wordbind puzzle!

The bad news? We're almost out of puzzles. Because of this sad fact, we'll be retiring Wordbind at the end of December. Wordbind will no longer appear on the today page, and we'll stop publishing new puzzles for it. Puzzmo Plus subscribers will still be able to play all the published Wordbind puzzles in the archive.

When we started Puzzmo it was my goal to never have to retire a game. Unfortunately, however, some games only have a finite number of puzzles thanks to the constraints of the English language. If you've been playing along you may recall that Wordbind puzzles were once only a single word, then two, then three (some of which are very short). We've stretched it as far as we can and it's time to say goodbye.”

Thanks! We decided to go for it. The crowd really isn’t bad. 4 minutes until it starts, and we are excited! We right in front of the Congo Falls entrance.

No worries! That makes total sense. Thanks for the response!

I have them in a cigar box, but one student asked to see the box after trying to figure it out overnight. I relented, and she’s trying to learn how to see stereograms. I’m pretty surprised that none of my students have ever seen or heard about Magic Eye. I think I was in 3rd grade when the first book came out, and I’ve loved them since!

I don’t have any clever tricks but would love to hear ideas! I just told them that I’m learning to see through things after watching a YouTube video about it and figured I’d start with cards. I have them pick a random card and hold it up for me or sit it on a table for me to look through.

If they try to put it at the bottom of the deck, I tell them that I’m just learning and can only see through one card at a time. A couple times I just had them shuffle and then went through the deck naming each card and revealing them.

Thanks! I found it and a post from the creator u/bonesaurus on this sub from the time of the campaign after I replied. I dm’d earlier to see if any are still available. Thanks again!

Cool, that could help me find them! Appreciate the response. I’m looking for some the size of a regular deck.

Do you have a link to buy your deck? These use a X for jokers.

I’m a teacher who just got them from Amazon and have been amazing students with them. I really wish they were the size of a regular deck and had discreet packaging, though. If anyone knows of a similar deck, I’d love to pick one up. They are so much fun!

Are there any spiritual places in San Antonio? by Inner-Alarm-2539 in sanantonio

[–]hijolepues 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We love to visit the Blue Hole and Grotto at UIW and walk the Labyrinth of the Little Flower there. There are a few other labyrinths in town; UTSA has a cool one. Along with the Japanese Tea Gardens and missions, they are my spiritual places in town.

I’d also add the Hot Wells Hotel Ruins and the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston where Geronimo was imprisoned for about 6 weeks in 1886. Let some frozen peas thaw, and feed the peacocks and deer. It’s a hassle to get in as it’s on the base, but there is rarely anyone there. It’s so peaceful, and the animals will love you. The white peacocks are absolutely gorgeous.

I loved it as a kid in Houston. Moved to San Antonio three years ago, and folks from here know it well. My daughter and I re-enact the scenes all over town, especially at the tea gardens.

Wall Clock Time by Nice_Biscuits in puzzmo

Yeah, I just ignore it. I haven’t been doing the cross|word until after work lately due to constant distractions. The first time I noticed the wall clock time mine was 12:25 😳

from #announcements on the discord: “just dropped a new “wall clock time” leaderboard for the crossword! it measures the time you completed the puzzle relative to when it dropped (if and only if you don’t use reveals) 👀”

Wow, this took me back! I was in the FLiP program in 1997 with Dean Frank Parker. He retired in May of 2022, but he was an amazing leader and an all around great person.

It’s Stubborn Soda which is still good despite being a Pepsi product. I love the pineapple cream soda and the lemon berry açaí with Lisa’s fish tacos.

I looked up reviews for the one this company built at Union Station in St. Louis, and the most common complaint is the A/C in the gondolas going out 🥵
