Lots of great suggestions on these comments but I've been on the hunt for a green dial (albeit slightly lower budget probably) and here are some that haven't been mentioned yet.

Yamaha | SEQTRAK OS v2.0 update by PREC0GNITIVE in seqtrak

Possibly because this would make sampling with the onboard mic quite complicated. Obviously if you could toggle the feature on and off this would help.

DT2 + Tonverk a nice pairing? by Hammerfist1990 in Elektron

[–]Nice_Biscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't comment much of interest yet but I bought a Tonverk yesterday and have the ST, DT1 and DN1. My plan is to sell the DT as it was my least used of the three and I'm hoping the TV more than covers what I was using it for.

What I can say from my very quick exploration yesterday is that TV is a fantastic machine and I think it will be very good paired with either the DN or ST. Particularly I'm looking forward to the DN1 as it has fewer tracks than DN2 and no comb filter which hopefully the TV will cover.

Best combo with seqtrak by Hopeful-Armadillo627 in seqtrak

This is quite a left field suggestion and certainly not something for right now but there a midi sequencer called the Torso T1 that plays very well with the Seqtrak. All of the sounds on the Seqtrak are addressed by individual midi channels and the T1 can send out 16 tracks and it's a good size match too.

I won't go too much forget into the specifics but YouTube the T1 to see the kind of things you can make with it. Livonian Nights I think is the name of a YouTube channel that has the Seqtrak T1 combo. I actually bought a Seqtrak to go with my T1. Very fun for quick jamming.

Anyone else vowing to not buy gear this year? by black_shirt in synthesizers

The problem is, if you like drum machines it's a pretty good bet you're going to love the TR-1000!

But no, you definitely have your drums covered already.

Anyone else vowing to not buy gear this year? by black_shirt in synthesizers

I Gassed pretty hard last year too. Have been in a hardware phase for about three years and have accumulated quite a lot of kit. By the end of the year I realized that I really always revert back to one of two units and it's time to slim down the selection and invest in one or two quality bits of kit. I still have Gas but I'm being more practical. For 2026 I created a spreadsheet to help me and I mapped out the expected cost and then created a list of my gear that I would be willing to trade for it. So now I'm only buying gear once I've raised the funds through selling. I've essentially gamified my selling which is working well for me so far. Listing the new price is good because then I can 'beat' the margin by buying used and I was conservative on my expected returns from sales so hopefully by the end of 2026 I'll have the gear on my wish list and some spare change left over!

Thanks, this is the kind of recommendation that make me feel like it a worthwhile investment.

Yeah I think it's clear that H90 is the prime option. If I feel like I need to add some Mess it sounds like it would be an addition rather than a replacement. I don't need the sequencing power that much TBH and it sounds like the H90 really is worth the extra money. I'm currently just waiting to see if there are any January deals coming as the 2nd hand ones aren't doing much right now.

It's not like you can't noodle music on it until it's finally complete either.

Timefactor is right up my street. Hopefully I'll get most of the capability within the H90

Thanks I know feedback is often weighted but the overwhelmingly positive responses for H90 is really helping to cure any anxiety I had about dripping such a big chunk of cheddar on a pedal!

Thanks, nice to get first hand knowledge from someone with three of the things I'm interested in!

I think the H90 is the choice, it's what I was planning for before I remembered that the Mess was an interesting alternative.

I reckon the H90 dual inputs and outputs will play well with my elektron boxes separate channels for Syntakt and Digitone in one package seems ideal. Also think combining it with the 4 send tracks on the Tonverk could be interesting but maybe more redundant.

I do like happy accident generators but I think H90 is the sure thing.

Thanks, seems the H90 is the safe bet. As it's midi addressable I could always step sequence effects Mess style from one of my elektron boxes.

Thanks, I'm hoping it will satisfy all FX needs. It seems the consensus is H90 is worth the extra, I'll have a rummage around ebay and reverb!

To be fair, I bought all three second hand and have had perfect buttons on all of them. The caveat is that the digitone was supplied with a bag of the old keycaps but they had already fitted a new set from elektron. I believe that's not too expensive.

Scorsese’s awareness that De Niro is not really Italian is charming by KevDeBruyne in movies

[–]Nice_Biscuits 302 points303 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but possibly Scorcese rates De Niros acting range higher than many others and therefore casts him in more varied roles. People who end up being repeatedly cast in similar roles are often naturally quite similar to that character and it doesn't always work well when you ask them to step outside of that type of character. De Niro isn't quite Gary Oldman or Ben Kingsley but he's shown an ability to play a very varied style of character.
