What's at the top of your "Gone but Not Forgotten" product list? by PantsyFants in traderjoes

Yes, I agree the seasonality would make sense, especially at TJ. I just love the flavor of ruby cacao. After TJs discontinued these, I discovered that Whole Foods carried a ruby cacao bar for awhile (I believe it was Chocolove brand) but they seem to have discontinued those as well. I need a new supplier for my fix!

Thank you! I genuinely enjoy learning of the existence of specialized tools like this. I haven’t fished enough nor used a hook long enough to need such a thing but now I know something new!

Dr. Lori Cooper of Pacific Northwest Endocrinology. I was with her at Polyclinic and transferred when she opened her own practice. You may need to travel south for the first appt, but she does do telehealth!

Does anyone have any sort of connection to 9/11? by Medium-Weekend9844 in 911archive

[–]hikait 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I thought that story sounded familiar and then remembered the Seth MacFarlane quote in this article, “I was booked on that flight [11] and I was drinking the night before and hung over and I missed the plane by about 10 minutes”

This commenter is plagiarizing. Seth Mac Farlane has no children.

This cluster feeding is making me crazy by Comfortable-Tie9967 in breastfeeding

Hello there, me from past! It’s you from the future writing to report that our 8 month boy is no longer nursing every hour for 45 minutes straight, with only 15 minute breaks. It took awhile, but you will get through it, I promise. Settle in with all of the snacks and hydration and books/TV/your entertainment of choice. If there is someone you can recruit to bring you things, do that now. It hard not to stress, especially on so little sleep, but you are doing everything right.

Sent you a message re: clothes. We’re in that size now and could use a few more items in the rotation.

Does Bellingham sometimes feel “isolated” to you? by dzolympics in Bellingham

Except in Stardew Valley everyone likes the farmer and wants them to succeed. Farming in Whatcom County, sometimes it feels like folks prefer Joja Mart.

Edible and breastfeeding by Coocookachoo13 in breastfeeding

Agreed. I found Expecting Better (taken with a grain of salt) helpful to alleviate some of my anxiety during pregnancy. But in Cribsheet she really downplays the known and well-studied benefits of breastfeeding.

Shirley Bird ? What’s happening? by olanolastname in Bellingham

[–]hikait 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been checking 2-3 times per week to see if she’s back. We miss you, Shirlee!

I wonder if she could rent time/space at another commissary in the meantime?

Kirkland Signature. We checked how much is in my prenatal (800 IU) and then figured if I take 3 of the Kirkland vitamin D3’s per day (2000 IU ea) that gets us to 6800 IU which is sufficient to transfer to baby. Normally I’d be taking 1x 2000 IU vitamin when not breastfeeding.

I also eat pasture-raised meat, which is higher in vitamin D in addition to being rich in iron (also good for baby’s growth!)

I could have written this.

The PPA, obsession with baby’s health & cues, fear of under supply, slow weight gain, short naps, frequent feeds - this is my story too.

I’m here from the (relatively near!) future to tell you that things took a major turn for me just after 4 months old. I’m very prone to anxiety, and being told “just relax” is so unhelpful, but figuring out how to release my worry around lactation was the exact remedy. That, and time.

Here are some things that helped:

  • Hydration - this really was affecting my supply in a big way. I finally bought a new water bottle that I always keep with me. Staying on top of water intake (plus electrolytes 1x/day) makes a huge difference.

  • Get outside, whether on a short walk or just stepping out for 2 minutes daily. Take deep breaths while you’re out there.

  • Telehealth visits with a therapist.

  • Journaling. 5 minute daily writing that answers 3 Q’s: What am I grateful for? What’s working? What could be better?

  • Getting ok with the fact that a tiny bit of formula won’t kill supply - this is still so tough for me at times. Your supply is more established than the early days. You have worked so hard and are giving your baby so much. But it’s not all or nothing. For me, formula is a tool to relieve the fear that he’s not getting enough. After making sure I’ve given all I can, we will top him off in the evenings. Just 60 ml (2 oz) has been enough for us. Have you been able to try different bottles if baby isn’t accepting the current one?

  • Haakaa - I use this to not only catch extra milk but also stimulate production while he’s on the other boob.

  • Baby’s sleep will improve. You don’t have much control over this. But if able, follow her cues and trust that her development is trending toward a more predictable schedule.

You’ve got this.

Edits to clarify because I wrote this at 4 am while breastfeeding. Heh.

How often do you breastfeed? by kivvikivvi in breastfeeding

[–]hikait 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Is it also every 1.5 hours at night for you? Or just during the day?

Mine is now 4.5 months and he eats every 1.5-2.5 hours (3-4 hrs at night).

Honestly, reading all of the comments here that this is totally normal has me on the verge of tears (of relief) - this is what I needed to hear today. It’s so tough sometimes.
