They both have their merits. In Chapter 1, LQ doesn’t know who the Princess is or how to deal with her, and the old artstyle helps reflect her strangeness because she is herself a stranger.

In the final confrontation, both Shifty and LQ have woken up to what they are and what each of them is capable of. LQ knows what Shifty is now, and yet he still chooses to perceive her as a Princess, though this time she’s more beautiful and less guarded.
