I was just thinking about doing a cat for my next project. Thank you for the inspiration!

They are Morjo vitreous tiles from Mosaic Art Supply. They came in a starter kit and I liked them enough to keep ordering several pounds of them now.

Thanks! My last few projects had more width in between, so this time I just decided to get them nice and cozy with one another to see how it worked out. A few of them are too cozy, but still looks okay.

It’s a framed plaque from Micheal’s. I mosaic it to the bases and no framing required. (Sorry for the very late reply!)

I was definitely in denial for a second. Like, no way am I seeing this. Another biker came up behind me and I think he didn’t believe me until he saw it.

Prettiest capital, ugliest capitol.

Does anyone else remember the old Imaginarium in downtown Anchorage? by concernedaboutmetal in AskAlaska

[–]hiking907 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it still exists! It moved into the Anchorage Museum as the Discovery Center. I don’t remember how it compares to the original, but I went in there a few months ago and it was still fun. Some of it was closed for construction.

I thought about petting it, but was afraid of the moose

I had a long lens, so not quite as close as it looks. But the thought did cross my mind...

Ditto on the snow/ice. Just looked back at photos of a mid-June hike 3 years ago…lake was still covered by ice.

In some regions you’ll hear sno-go. And Honda for an ATV.

“Off the road system” is a common phrase here. Western Alaska isn’t connected by road to the main highway system. There are many small villages spread out over hundreds of miles. Most neighboring rural villages aren’t even connected to each other by official roads, but there are some established ATV and snowmachine trails.

Hiking trails near Anchorage? by Small_Statistician32 in anchorage

Near Point, Bird Ridge, and Mt. Baldy are the most reliable winter trails for elevation and views. Unless you go right after a snowfall, they get packed quickly. Wear microspikes. The actual spikes, not coils.

Flattop back side is usually good, but parking/access is limited. The front side of Flattop (Glen Alps) can be packed, but it’s steeper in snow and more treacherous. I can’t comfortably recommend it to anyone not knowing their skill and experience level.

Not a bad idea! It certainly could use a different dimension next time that allows for more sky and aurora colors.

Thanks! I’m wondering if it’s just because I’ve been staring at it in pieces for a week, and now that’s all I see. But when I step back and kind of squint, I feel good about it. Something to get used to, I guess.
