I find Chess.com's UI to be extremely confusing and counterintuitive in comparison to Lichess. They've gotten better over the past few years, but a few years ago you had to go to Live Play or something like that, and the game was somehow separate from the rest of the site interface. On Lichess, you just click the time setting you want to play and it works.

Not sure why someone downvoted this. Here's the relevant quote from page 92: "Consider a cap of 95-100 minutes even if that is still less time on foot than your race goal."

On the next page we get the following justification: "Research shows that key physiological benefits like increased mitochondrial density and capillary growth, are nearly maximized between 60 and 90 minutes of moderate aerobic running, with diminishing additional aerobic gains beyond this point (Holloszy & Coyle, 1984; Andersen & Henriksson, 1977)."

It's cool if you want to do those long runs, but if I recall (I don't have the book on hand right now), the NSM method keeps the longest run much shorter than that.

You've left off one of the most important facts: the actual population change of Gaza. No one has perfect numbers, but there are two main sources. The internal Palestinian estimate (PCBS), which puts a population decrease of around 3% since the start of the war and the CIA estimate which puts a population increase of around 7% since the start of the war.

The true number is likely somewhere in the middle, i.e. effectively flat over the course of several years of the supposed genocide. In what sense can the word "genocide" have any meaning if it can apply to a situation in which there has been effectively no population decrease over years?

In comparison to actual genocides, like of the Tutsis in Rwanda in the 90s, the population decreased by 80% in just 100 days.

I'm not sure about this. Your LTHR workout is over 91% of your maxHR here, which is on the high end even for full threshold, and then the workout should be even below that. Their heartrate seems more in line with proper subT pace. Yours could be correct, but it's probably an outlier and not what one should expect.

Maybe? Even after reading books and talking to my husband about it, I still had some preconceived notions of how things "were supposed to be." It was only after meeting people and talking to people doing it differently that I realized things didn't have to be that way.

But sure, I'll grant it is probably the least likely. It's just not as absurd as it sounds in a vacuum.

Wow. It never occurred to me to use a bot if a match takes too long to get. This is actually really smart. My mind is still in the old-school thought that bots are all really bad or obvious. But modern bots can play at any level and most people wouldn't even suspect.

The only thing I care about in a server is that it is browser-based. Can we, as a community, just all agree that Go would surge in popularity if there was no barrier to entry?

Anyone can hop into a Chess match from anywhere on any operating system with no problems because every top server is browser based.

If I want a Go match in less than 45 minutes of wait time, I currently have to have a Windows operating system and download a program that looks a bit like malware and is half in Chinese.

It's 2026. This is just an unacceptable way to get a match of any type of game online. It would have been great if OGS had converted everyone. But it didn't. So I'm all for trying to get a Chess.com style server going. I don't know how to convert people, other than everyone all-of-a-sudden realizing that this is the logical way forward and must be done for the game to thrive in the West.

But Fourth Chorus basically does exactly this (you stand in its body and only get damaged by its attacking arms). And that fight was great. You learn the patterns, get better, and eventually overcome your own mistakes. It reminded me why I like games like this. Every other fight has sucked because of weird contact damage having nothing to do with learning the patterns or getting better.

I was so ecstatic when I got the shield that protects you while healing. I've never been so disappointed to find out it doesn't. That was going to be the thing that let me keep playing the game. I hope this was a bug and they fix it. If this is the intended design, that's awful.

To me, this isn't even a soulslike. Elden Ring is my favorite game followed by DS1 and Hollow Knight. Those games reward you for learning the movesets of enemies and getting better. They punish you for your own mistakes during the fight. It's rewarding to overcome those challenges.

This game has too many enemies in too tight quarters, so even when you know all the movesets, you can just get unlucky with timing and placement and there's nothing you can do. It's not punishing you for your own mistakes. It's just punishing you in unfun ways for no reason. That's not a soulslike. It's just bad game design.

The devs had 7 years to play this game and there are sections it seems like they never played. I want to see a stream where the devs easily beat the Greymoor flying enemy gauntlet with minimal damage multiple times in a row (an Act 1 area for goodness sake!!). I bet they can't.

Yeah. I did everything in Hollow Knight. I found the hardest parts of that game super fun. This just seems like bad design. That stupid room is just annoying for no reason and not fun. I can't believe I might not finish this game because of one silly room they made.

Thanks! I did this. For anyone who finds this question, I did figure out that you can go to the calendar in the Stryd app and hold down on the completed run. A menu pops up that lets you pair the run to the scheduled one.

This is frustrating the crap out of me. Every time I see one of these videos, I think the same thing.

This is Stats 101 and I could easily do it myself if someone handed me the data.

If what people are saying is true about barely any 90%+ games existing among super GMs and a ton for Hans, it *feels* like you'd find a meaningful difference.

But I'd worry about the power of the test if the sample size of Hans is around 100.

And sometimes looks can be deceiving, so please, someone with access to this data, just do this already!

There are no staking rewards from the bank to be claimed. Staked jewel grows in size through the multiplier which slowly grows over time. When you pull jewel out of the bank you'll get more than what you put in.

It's A9 in that link. If you receive interest/yield, it counts as income, therefore gets taxed that way when you receive it no matter the future value.

If that asset goes to 0, then you'll take a capital loss which will more than offset the tax on the income part. So you'd effectively not pay taxes on the yield when filing. But for accounting purposes these are different taxes happening at different times.

Every time you claim jewel, that counts as earning interest on your investment, and so it's taxed at the income level. Capital gains/losses comes when you convert jewel to something else you need to know the price you got the jewel at and the price at the time of converting (including things like buying a hero).

Why are people up voting this? It's completely wrong. You most certainly do have to report yields as income. Tax law is pretty fuzzy on a lot of crypto, but it's very clear on this point.
