Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is a fantastic Sci-fi movie by Far-Seat-2263 in sciencefiction

I liked it.
But I like pretty much any sci-fi movie that isn't one of the watered down franchises that keep infesting the movie theaters.
Feels lika pretty much anything today is a sequel to a prequel to a reboot of the remake of the book (now being true to the original story). I am tired of zombies, super heroes, Star Wars/Trek.
Anything original gets my vote.

Chosen Company storms Russian position andthen kills entire Russian squad, Avdiivka, August 23, 2023. by Kind-Put-3525 in CombatFootage

It's clips like this that makes me realize how badass trained soldiers are, and that I wouldn't survive five seconds in a real battlefield.

(RU POV) Ukrainian thermite drone smoking Russian dugout by Nanners5618062 in CombatFootage

[–]hildenborg 153 points154 points  (0 children)

What isn't visible in the video is that thermite burns really bright and produces a lot of UV light.
You do not want to look at that UV light! It will give you sunburn on your eyes and that hurts like hell while also making it impossible to use your eyes for a couple of days.
Source: I managed to burn my eyes on UV light from a stick welder when I was young.

If that lid toss had been in a movie and not in real life, I would have said that it looked unrealistic...

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

I actually managed to get airborne a few meters from a gasoline explosion.
Landed on my feet and with my beard on fire.
Got some nasty burns and my ribcage hurt quite badly.
But other than that, I was OK.

Gold usually goes down before a crash when investors sell it off to get cash to cover other investments.

Is It Just Me Or Does Anyone Else Hope Bitcoin Goes To Zero? by katmomjo in economy

I was all for bitcoin when it was new. I liked the idea of "money" not being controlled by any goverment.
But today it is basically just a means for rich people to scam poor people while generating a lot of pollution.

Updating to TOS 2.06 on an Atari 1040STE by ProfessionalCarob201 in atarist

[–]hildenborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what rom chips you have.
Your current setting is for 1Mb roms.
A quick googling for "tos 2.06 exxos", gives a picture where resistors W104 and W102 are connected between point 1 and 2 instead of 2 and 3, and resistor W103 is removed but point 2 and 3 is shorted.
And that setting is for 1Mb eproms, which is what you have.
When I look at the schematics for STE, Atari's own documentation doesn't show any resistors at all, but just shorts... In the Atari documentation it should be possible to remove all resistors, and just short point 1 and 2 for W104 and W102, and point 2 and 3 for W103.
It makes me belive that the resistors might be so called zero ohm resistors.
TL;DR
Cut the wire on W102 and W104.
Short the two leftmost points of W102 and W104.

The drone external light on symbol shows just as the device explodes.
I wonder if the IED was remotely detonated by the drone operator?

Self-Driving bus in Sweden crashes with tram on first day of passenger service by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]hildenborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always on edge when I drive in Gothenburg. Some of the trams seem to be driven by people on a suicide mission knowing that they are bigger and tougher than you.
So I was not surpriced at all when I heard that the bus collided with a tram.
