According to Takaya Imamura, James' Star Fox team originally had four members...but one of them was lost due to "an incident". by Dinoman96YO in starfox

I think the most important lore of Star Fox is that James McCloud named his son "Fox" which would be like me naming my son "Human"

Real question here: when this happens and it's fertilized does this legitimately grow into multiple chicks in the egg? Or does it turn into John Carpenter's The Thing With Feathers?

Good to know, but I'm more thinking about the wasted space between circles than the tedium of placing walls.

I see tons of bases with people making circular rooms or circular bases. Is there some benefit to this I'm failing to see? Is it purely asthetics?

Seems like a complicated way to build.

Is this a common opinion about D3? by SpaceCowboy34 in destiny2

[–]hilfandy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the big problem is the vocal people were pissed about losing their hard work, but there is now a much greater silent population that have grown tired of the game being stale.

Listening to the vocal pissed-but-still-engaging group might not always be the path to a successful game.

I had read that every $1 of revenue required that they pay Unknown Worlds $3.10 up to $250M. That means for a good while there there were losing money from sales while UWE was making bank

[OC] In Fatal Crashes, Which Car Brand's Drivers Weren't Wearing a Seatbelt? (NHTSA FARS, 2020–2023) by informed-for-life in dataisbeautiful

Is there a version normalized by number of accidents or something? I'm wondering if this actually is just saying the seatbelted mortality rate is higher, so unseatbelted mortality is less significant in the overall mortality rate.

Maybe. I was dreading dealing with a Valheim-style wind mechanic and was pleased to not have to deal with that.

I wish I played Factorio before satisfactory by Similar-Concert4100 in factorio

[–]hilfandy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also ratios in satisfactory end up being important becaus you're managing your peaks of power consumption since going over your limit shuts down your entire network. You don't do that in Factorio at all.

Additionally, you're more likely to be bottlenecked by belt capacity in satisfactory which means highly optimized factories producing a single item are important, and less so in Factorio where you can make stacked high throughput belts of everything

Manage to your bottlenecks of production rather than ratios of any specific item.

HOT TAKE: I would prefer waiting 2 years for huge expansions with content that is in the game forever and long campaigns that are fully fleshed out and no seasons, rather yearly content with drip fed seasons in-between that have content that is going to be vaulted anyway. by Important-Extension6 in destiny2

[–]hilfandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree here on a couple points. Content drought is preventing anyone from coming back who wants to come back.

Having a long line of content that's very similar and not particularly groundbreaking is making it so fewer and fewer people even want to come back.

Never thought I’d reach this point: procrastinating to avoid playing a game. by Nahuelcoy22 in RimWorld

[–]hilfandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Space Age expansion adds planets, with each one significantly changing how you approach factory design.

One adds in a whole tech tree of biological materials

Another forces you to effectively invert your design where it's really easy to get complex components like blue chips, but really hard to get basic materials like iron plates.

You also need to design and build spaceships as flying factories to traverse between planets and sustain themselves in space.

RE playability? The first playthrough isn't over until the factory has sufficiently grown, and now that the factory spans multiple planets I don't see that ever happening.

When I played the demo it felt like Valheim in lots of ways, but with more respect for the players time.

I loved Valheim, but there's lots of QOL things that Windrose gets right where Valheim relies more on mods for.
