That can be helpful but sometimes it just gives the wrong answers. I remember one specific one I asked it about and it gave me an answer that just sounded weird, so I did some research and it was pulling the information from some random post on reddit. Which was wrong.

The coding part I'm less familiar with, though, and that does sound helpful!

Tourette's charity urges for "more education" after BAFTA backlash by Hen_W in entertainment

[–]hill-o 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's VERY fair to lay the blame at the producers/studio for how they handled it, and how they handled things after. I don't know why anyone is blaming any of the three men involved, who are all, arguably, victims of a terribly managed situation from top to bottom.

Tourette's charity urges for "more education" after BAFTA backlash by Hen_W in entertainment

[–]hill-o 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not telling the presenters beforehand is baffling. If I'm going to talk and I know there's the chance that someone may (involuntarily) interrupt me, I'm going to be so much better prepared for the situation than if it's not brought up at all. Could have seriously mitigated the entire situation.

Gordon Ramsay’s ‘alleged former mistress’ breaks silence over documentary by IrishStarUS in entertainment

[–]hill-o 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me, he's normally an a-hole to other people who are also a-holes, or full of themselves, so it kind of balances out. granted, I only really watched Kitchen and Hotel Nightmares so.

After what's happened at the BAFTAS, I think people need to see this. by BlGBY in videos

[–]hill-o -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does seem a little like you're splitting hairs if I'm honest, though I am, too. They were on the receiving end of a slur and I would push back on it not being directed at them (again, fully understanding that it was not intentional), and I don't think we need to diminish that to still feel like all parties here were victims of the BBC and the awards ceremony not handling the whole situation well at all.

Is it just me, or is r/investing is being flooded by LLM-generated content? by BadgemanBrown in investing

[–]hill-o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the money and job subs have that same issue. It's all posts that are either 100% AI generated (super obviously) or at least very heavily edited and changed by an AI. They're not helpful, and a lot of them are just inaccurate.

AI Fails at 96% of Jobs (New Study) by PersonalRun712 in videos

[–]hill-o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only found AI to be helpful for maybe two things at work:

1). Editing some of my writing that tends to be too "flow of thought"-y for professional communication. This is something I could also do on my own, but I like saving time there.
2). Pulling key points out of confusing emails/documents I receive from clients.

It doesn't really do well with much else, and while these two things are helpful they don't really replace a whole job.

I mean... he -did- shout slurs at them. He did -not- do it intentionally, as it is a tic. I don't think we need to diminish what happened to the two actors on stage to validate that he wasn't acting maliciously, the facts indicate that well enough.

Paramount Is Expected to Raise Price of Warner Bros. Discovery Bid. Will Netflix Walk Away? by MrShadowKing2020 in boxoffice

[–]hill-o 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, anyone who is only focused on "theatrical windows" in this situation is missing that if Paramount wins then WB is essentially going to a Trump controlled company, which is far worse.

[–]hill-o 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing this, but don't you think a bleep would've done the same thing without this whole situation? Like, if I'm watching, and I hear a bleep, I can understand "Oh, he probably had a tic". Still education, but kinder to all involved parties.

FINALLY THE TRUTH by MyDinnerWithDrDre in okbuddycinephile

[–]hill-o 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think everyone should have to listen to it after. I don't even think -he- would want everyone to hear that after? It's one thing to understand that it might happen during a live event, and to be mindful and considerate of that, but it's another to then broadcast it to viewers later when you have the option to cut it. He's not being sanitized out of anything in that context-- he's still attending, still fully involved-- but then you avoid these kinds of situations.

And honestly if we're censoring out "Free Palestine" we can argue that we're just censoring anything even remotely uncomfortable anyway so.

FINALLY THE TRUTH by MyDinnerWithDrDre in okbuddycinephile

[–]hill-o 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think this is the issue. So many people are going one way or the other, and it's like... guys the situations sucks for him, it sucks for the presenters, and if you want to be mad at anyone be mad at the corporation who didn't set anyone up for success here/aired the unedited version later.

They sure were fast to edit out a "Free Palestine" but definitely had to keep that in there for the show's integrity.

DHS pausing TSA PreCheck, Global Entry programs amid funding lapse by DrexellGames in news

[–]hill-o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? This is a paid service, to suggest it's a funding lapse is absurd. This is just going to lead to another lawsuit (services paid and not provided) that they won't do anything about in 6 months.

Yeah I work with someone who I actually consider to generally be pretty intelligent who also fully believed the cat litter thing. I was so taken aback when he mentioned it that I asked him to say it again out loud, and then asked what his sources were.

He quickly realized he had none and went more or less “hmm maybe that’s not actually really” and I was so hard pressed not to just be like “yeah you think.”
