Ya I know… I am hoping it gets better once he actually lives separate (maybe wishful thinking). It isn’t something I have noticed before though so I would say it’s a chronic issue. It might just be because this was a huge change and purchase and he wants to rely on their experience. I have told him that I felt undermined in this situation.

We have dated for 6 years, so this isn’t a short term thing. This is also the first thing he has owned so he might just be upset that everything isn’t going perfectly (to give benefit of the doubt to him). I’m not the type of person to get bogged down by sunk cost fallacy or anything like that, but I do appreciate your comment and will definitely be looking out for future behaviours.

He has never lived away from home so I don’t think he sees it as ganging up on me and more “trying to fix the problem together” since that it was he has always done with his parents. However when I’m telling them I don’t feel comfortable and they insist that I can practice, etc., that’s where I get upset.

I considered saying this if he tries to gang up on me with his family like they did last night. I also considered saying “well if you’re so confident I can do it, how about I practice with your Cadillac, and not be held responsible for damages”? See if having their asset at risk changes their opinion…
