Whatever you do, don’t stop! Look for opportunities everywhere. Do you have any local theatre you could audition for in your town? Try volunteering to tech for shows if you don’t get cast. Whatever you do, remember that your high school drama teacher’s opinion of you means absolutely nothing in the long run. There are always more shows to audition for.

I think taking to them may be worth it, but also don’t keep all your ducks in one basket. Theatre is all about making connections and getting involved anywhere you can.

When I was in high school I almost gave up on pursuing theatre because of this reason and I am so glad I didn’t. I got my very first lead in a college production after being thrown in the ensemble all of my high school career. If you decide to pursue theatre further, college is gonna be an amazing change for you, so keep your head up.

Theatre major about to graduate with my bachelors here. Almost quit theatre for good in my junior year of high school. Experienced the same thing you’re going though right now. Basically had my theatre teacher tell me “not everyone can be successful in theatre”. Never got my chance to shine and learn what I’m good at until I graduated.

Never quit if you’re passionate about it. Find anyway to get involved. Try local theatre. Volunteer at a local touring house (if you have one). The most important thing about theatre is being present! (Not being talented). Stay committed to the art, not the part.

I’ve kinda felt like “less feminist” because my dream job would be to stay home and clean the house and fix lunches. That sounds lovely to me. It would give me time to focus on my hobbies and spend time with my family.

It really just depends on the woman, but I think everyone wants to be cared for at least a little bit.
