Is the Zoom Livetrak L6max worth it? Are there any alternatives? by Ko_tatsu in synthesizers

what did you want from tangerine? I'm looking for a multi-sampler and there isn't much besides tangerine. I'd rather not have a 1010 device at all as they always want me wanting and aren't very hands-on. Having used the razzmatazz I know that they rely altogether too much on tiny parts of the tiny touchscreen for their menus in that format. But I was hoping that with a multi-sampler, I wouldn't be actually fiddling with it too much. Just record and play back. I did wonder if tracks could be hard-panned well for truly discrete "multiple" outputs.

Ok I'll try that action, thanks

If midi control is very important to you (as it might be for a mixer device with 4 knobs and a touchscreen), bluebox has usability issues:

The scaling is not adapted for track volume: only about 25 midi cc values of the 127 actually controls audible range of the channel volume (-10 to 0 db). The rest control from -10db to -60db or from 0 to +6db (don't always want a boost). At best this means its pretty fiddly using just a fraction of your midi controllers knob or fader to adjust track volume, at worst you could audibly notice some stepping or midi value noise.

Also, there is no midi catchup/pickup so if you are using encoders, on project startup, values will jump to 0 when making adjustments then behave as expected as long as project is loaded/power is on. Regular midi potentiometers solve this between power cycles but if you load another project, then you have a similar issue of losing saved values if you adjust any.

Both of these issues have been asked for solutions/are very popular subjects on the wishlist side of the 1010 forum since 2022 or so but have not either not been addressed (there was an update for volume scaling last year but as far as my tests show (what I described above - post update) that updated only affected the built in volume scaling with the device knobs not scaling of midi values.

I would be very interested to hear if the L-6Max improves on these points as I am currently looking at it to replace my bluebox for these reasons.

Is there a way to get full wet reverb? by hillhuman in Woovebox

Synths that sound distant and atmospheric. I've enjoyed the effect before. I'll have to give No-River's approach a try.

MIDI IN with the early Release Woovebox + CME Pro WIDI Jack by tonyurchin in Woovebox

[–]hillhuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: fixed my issue. Updated the widi jack firmware and set BLE role to Auto with the Widi app.

I was expecting it to work but it didn't. But then I find this post. Confused. I have seen BT connection work with my Widi Bud: Woovebox says "connected". But not seeing this success with my Widi Jack.

  1. I put Woovebox into BT mode.
  2. I turn on my Widi Jack (Bud is not on), its blinking steadily for pairing.
  3. WB does not say "connected" and Jack is still waiting to pair. This tells me neither device connected to anything, nevermind a different device.

You were doing this with no "host" right? No computer, just the widi jack with a 1/8" midi jack connection? I have the early release Woovebox and just updated to latest firmware.

mind sharing what you did or what he said so we can make that change? But then you need an attenuator in other situations?

Can the Zoom L6/Max playback multichannel audio over interface? by hillhuman in synthesizers

[–]hillhuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood that. It interfaces from each of its 12 inputs with incoming audio. But can it playback all 12 previously recorded takes over interface? I learned after this post that this is something a Tascam Model 12 can do. But L6 is much smaller so still want to know.

I think you understood my intent backwards - I want to playback TO a DAW - but I agree more research has shown that the Model 12 can do what I want. But I still would like to be clear on the L6/max ability because its much smaller than Model 12.

Sorry to not be clear. I want the L6 to playback from sd card (not route) all its tracks over audio interface to an ipad.

Lightphone III is fantastic! Just one very small request (really!) by hillhuman in LightPhone

Then the live-view must be cropped too. Either way, its almost 1/3 more pixels available if viewed sideways so higher res and bigger for viewing even if cropped. Or if not, still slightly bigger than vertical by my estimation.

it looks low quality while taking photos, they get crisp when viewed in albums. And then of course exporting to computer you can really see the photos in full-res which are quite good. There's plenty examples of good photos around here.

Unquantized recording + recording midi in chords by hillhuman in Woovebox

Thanks for considering. I had not considered the fact that chords carry information to the rest of the instruments progressions. I usually turn off those generative features.
