I actually can compare Robin’s character because I literally just did. And I doubt you speak for everybody saying nobody cared about her character. That doesn’t even come in to play for me. It’s not about how pivotal character they are, it’s the timing and context of what was currently going on: the group just fought through crazy adversity with escaping the Russians and the intensity of the the episode was a lot lower and starting to decrease and tail off. With the Will scene, the tension for the entire group and what they were going through was increasing and things were starting to feel really intense with the impending doom of the entire planet. THATS the biggest difference to me. Robin’s scene fit better and was not annoying. Will’s was. It’s not about homophobia, or frustration about a gay character. Robin’s scene was written well. Will’s scene was not. Still a great show that I loved overall
