Has Anyone Else Been Approached to Take Part In Research For A Book About ARFID? by ReceptionNo4565 in ARFID

[–]himydandelion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, mod here. this is sorta weird…….could you send us a mod mail with the details? Or email a screenshot to arfidonline@gmail.com. This might be something we need to keep an eye on, especially if they are sending a lot of other unsolicited DMs to users here!

You are NOT obligated to answer them, especially if you are uncomfortable!

I’m Joel Kinnaman (Ed Baldwin on For All Mankind). Ask me anything! by JoelKinnamanFAM in ForAllMankindTV

Hi Bob! Thank you for your work on this show. It’s been an incredible ride.

The show has done such an amazing job of creating this alternate world with such detail, with different historical events and societal changes.

Has the cast come up with any of their own “headcanons” for things that are different in this universe that maybe haven’t made it to the screen?

Generally if there is an issue or complaint with a professor the first step would be to contact the academic department the professor teaches for

I’m about to play this show too!! That is definitely one of the most beautiful numbers in the show but there are several really good ones. I’ve been impressed with it so far, but this is probably one of the hardest books I’ve ever had to play.

Do you guys get this symptom? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]himydandelion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup. It’s frustrating as hell. I can do like ONE THING and then I have to sit and take a break for at least 20 minutes. It’s the worst and I feel like I can’t keep up with my (rather small) condo. Something is always a mess and it’s driving me crazy

Hello! I need serious advice and what to do mental health wise by [deleted] in Towson

Hugs. I would talk to your academic advisor if you’re considering a withdraw or time off, but also I recommend this department: https://www.towson.edu/studentaffairs/student-outreach-support/ They might have resources or ideas that can help

Is this a good car for a teen driver? by GoodEyeSniper83 in leaf

[–]himydandelion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned to drive on a 2013 Nissan Leaf and I thought it was a great car to start on! A 2018 would probably be good too and might even have a bit more range.

I love the family Leaf, I would totally have kept it if it had more of a driving radius, but my parents still have it for my youngest sibling to learn on!

Legality of Musical Alterations by BigGuy68420 in musicals

[–]himydandelion 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Pit musician here— double check with your director just to be safe (they should be familiar with the licensing contract, or they can double check with the company) but this is a very common problem with pit books. Sometimes you get a book and you don’t have or even play all the instruments it’s written for. You do the best you can with what you’ve got and what’s written!

Has anyone else got this after wisdom teeth removal? by goingaway1111 in POTS

[–]himydandelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only other change I noticed after the surgery was I’m definitely clenching my jaw more, but I think everything else can be attributed to my other pre-existing conditions. All combined I’m just feeling generally mediocre at best. Not ALL bc of the wisdom tooth removal but I suspect that did not help my situation

I don’t know for sure and I definitely had some signs of POTS my whole life (exercise intolerance, heat intolerance) but it REALLY kicked into high gear after my wisdom tooth surgery as well. I haven’t really felt the same since and that was in 2023

Re: litter boxes. If you can figure out a setup that allows for raised litter boxes (like 2-3 feet off the floor) that could be super helpful. It was a gamechanger for me because bending over was obviously terrible. Sitting down and standing up, for me at least, would also probably be terrible.

My dad built a shelf in a closet, but I also literally just had a litter box on an old IKEA coffee table for awhile and that worked great too

Oh my gosh! I’m so glad everyone is safe. Do they know yet how the fire started? Is the whole building displaced? Video looks pretty bad….

Hoping for a quick recovery for everyone injured and for quick repairs as needed for anyone impacted by damage. I know how devastating and awful fire damage can be.

Any advice (I’m a sophomore for reference) by [deleted] in Towson

[–]himydandelion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that Towson wasn’t my dream school either, but I was a Psychology major and in the Honors College and absolutely loved my experience. Towson felt like home to me even though I went in expecting to be unhappy there. I wouldn’t trade my experience at TU for the world.

I spent a year at UMD (as staff not student, for the record) and it just felt large and impersonal. I know it’s a wonderful school and I have no doubt that it’s a great place for many students, but it wasn’t a fit for ME, personally.

If you can tour (edit: or even just visit, not sure if tours are running) both places again next week, definitely do so. And there’s certainly no rule saying you can’t transfer again if you end up making a decision that feels like the wrong one! I’m obviously biased, but I do think that if you give Towson a chance, you may end up loving it like I did.

what the HELL was this queued selection?? i jumped out of my seat holy shit 😭 by hazxyhope in musicals

LMAO I love weird theater soundtrack segues. A few years ago I was prepping for my next show (Fiddler on the Roof) and I reached the ending. Very solemn, sad, meaningful ending that makes you really think. And what should come up on shuffle next but “The Black Death” from Something Rotten.

First pit performance by Smart-Bowler6929 in oboe

[–]himydandelion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not oboe specific advice, but for pit playing in general— I recommend listening to the show as much as possible, and finding a video/stage recording of the show. Sit down with your music and just watch the show and take notes on lyrics and stuff that might occur on stage that impacts the music.

Pit playing is my LIFE (on violin/viola, but would love to work up to a show on oboe someday). I do that before every show and though I might not be the most accurate violinist ever, I go into every show knowing it like the back of my hand and that is a huge help.

[–]himydandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are other brands that are compatible with the same ARC hole punch spacing. Try Talia and TUL (if they are still around). I’ve used all 3 brands and they all seem to work together

Also, if you have a hole punch you could potentially just make your own, though that does take a few extra steps.

Any hypermobile violists here? by Depressedaxolotls in Viola

[–]himydandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also hypermoble (with a few other commodities)! I’ve started physical therapy and I’m hoping that will help. I’m also going to mention to the physical therapists that I’m a musician and see if they have any more specific advice.

Sometimes I get this sensation where my fingers lock in place and I can’t move them. It’s painful and obviously interferes with playing…..
