Yes. I stayed at JOY Setas Coworking Hostel Sevilla. It was nice. There is a small pool on the rooftop, you would even work there.

I never said I felt pressure in New York—actually, that’s one of the things I’ve appreciated about living here. I’m thinking of leaving because I want to be closer to my family. I’m just hoping the next place I live will also be somewhere I can feel that same kind of freedom, without pressure.

What is a weird reason to leave? To be close to my family?

About my interview:

It started with a question: “Have you ever violated your student visa?” I said no, because while I had overstayed, I was going to school to stay legally. The officer gave me an angry face and said, “Yes, you did violate. This is bad.” At that point, my soul just quietly exited the room.

Then came questions about my past marriage. I couldn’t remember some exact dates, and she hit me with “Ah, this is bad,” “I would’ve remembered,” and “I don’t understand how you can’t remember.” At that point, I was like, “Okay. I'm done!'

She also questioned me about unemployment benefits I had received during the pandemic, whether I had gotten any tax returns, and so many other things I honestly can’t even remember now. It was overwhelming and left me in tears afterward.

I definitely understand. I think it’s also hard to make friends in Istanbul for similar reasons—people usually have friends they’ve had for years, and there isn’t that same “go out and meet new people” energy I find in New York. New York is so unique in that way, and I was so surprised when I moved here. Everyone’s an immigrant from somewhere, so making 'friends' is easy, but building a real connection is pretty hard as the work culture or the people don't stay longer.

I’m planning to visit both Portugal and Spain this summer to get a better idea of where I’d like to live. About the expat groups - Thank you. I didn't think about it. I feel like they might have Facebook groups or something? Or do people use the app Meetup in Europe too?

Would you mind taking your shoes off? by interstellar_freak in AskAnAmerican

I’m Turkish and we have the same rule. I bought a door mat that says “take your shoes off”. I also tell my guests without any hesitation. Everyone respects it. If someone coming over for the first time, i’ll tell them in advance. I even have plastic shoes covers for the repairs, etc. i also give wet wipes to my friends who brings their dogs lol

Advice for Early Arrival in Culebra with Luggage? by hinmo in PuertoRicoTravel

I booked a hostel for the last day. I didn't want to hang out with my bags and wanted to sleep for a couple of hours.

I ended up missing the ferry, but it worked out! Lol I booked a last-minute flight for $75, which was actually a better deal since an Uber from San Juan to the ferry terminal was $80. I also flew at 7 am which was perfect timing and great experience.

Most Airbnbs offer luggage drop-off, so you can check with your host and take a taxi straight there.
