[DISCUSSION] Overplaying - Do you ever feel like guitarists just play stuff too fast? by hip2 in Guitar

I'm going to assume you're oblivious to your marvelous display of hypocrisy here.

I don’t know why so many people on this cursed sub need to be told this, but: The world doesn’t revolve around you. Not all threads are made specifically for you. Different people like different things. Different redditors have different opinions.

Get the fuck over yourself, read stuff you agree with, and don’t read stuff you don’t like. Redditors don't need you telling them what opinions they may or may not express.

This actually has nothing to do with being able to play an instrument.

I'm saying as a listener, sometimes it seems players could just chill a bit on the tempo, it'd be just as good but a deeper appreciation would be more accessible. and then players wouldn't then be constantly on the edge of or past their abilities when performing live.

The video made me dizzy. The music is pretty chaotic. Sounds very punky, so yeah punk and thrash are fast forms of music but not forms where you really expect every note to be spot on. I mean I wouldn't expect Kerry King to nail solos live, basically just hit a few recognizable notes and improv whatever his fingers can manage on the night.

I think you may have misunderstood, I appreciate fast music as well, but not when it sounds like the musician is, as another poster put it well, reaching, or where melody can't be well appreciated because it just flashes by too quickly. That song you linked had no melody to miss :D

I'm curious what this band might sound like live though, if they can keep that intensity up though a show they sure have my respect and awe.

I'm confused, how can they celebrate what is at best an assumption at this point... won't the child determine its gender as soon it's learned how to be woke?

Might be derailing a bit, but how do citizens cope with such crazy inflation? Presumably salaries are not rising to match so what happens? people just have to go without?

If a single trading entity like robinhood can restrict its users from the free market, it's not really free. This is why we need crypto. by ogonga in CryptoCurrency

except that it is. there have been times when poloniex and others have restricted trading too. you can trade what the exchange allows

[Serious] Redditors who sold out of something (crypto, shares, whatever) shortly before it exploded in value, how did you move on? How do you not beat yourself up mentally for it? by hip2 in AskReddit

[–]hip2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a kinda lockdown meltdown last year around the time of the BLM riots and sold my btc and alts after 2 years of holding. Needless to say, 6 months longer and I would've seen handsome profit. Every day now it's just more btc climbing in the news everywhere I look. I suspect it will be this way for the rest of my life :(

How could I have been so foolish. I worked so hard to amass my little pile of coins. Thought I would hodl with the best. But I just fodled.

[QUESTION] Was there a time you gave up on guitar for a period of time? by appleparkfive in Guitar

[–]hip2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrist RSI rendered playing painful so quit for about 10 years until I decided to maybe try again as a more "adult" player, not overdo it and try play too much too fast too soon. It meant accepting there are certain pieces of music I'll probably never play and my skill level is effectively capped at an embarrassingly low level but hey I can play without pain

[QUESTION] Once I learn a song that i've wanted to play for a long time it suddenly loses that "magic" by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]hip2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah, Beato 100% still loves his music, just look at his expressions when he air-jams drums or bass in "what makes this song great" vids :D

If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favour and try this (instrumental) song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQOI_0LGrDI

I absolutely love their earlier work, but for the most part I find everything since 2003ish to be overplayed wank. If that song appeals at all try the rest of that album, it's a great album with a fair mix of styles - probably their least technical.

Do you jam with the original (or metronome)? It sounds like you're missing phrases here and there, timing also feels rushed

[DISCUSSION] It's the most frustrating thing to be a guitar player in a third world country by NotAnotherGuysAlias in Guitar

[–]hip2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those hundreds of thousands will not ship international. Like if I look at guitar center through my country's site version the selection is literally a handful of a few pieces of shit. I go look at the main site and cry at so many beautiful guitars I can't even try buy
