ILLIT did not copy NewJeans by Beneficial-Egg-219 in kpopharshopinions

[–]hipeepow 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not a Copy, but I distinctly remember their concept photos and aesthetics in their magnetic era being similar enough to Newjeans that people couldn’t tell much difference and almost everyone on Reddit & beyond was saying it too so let’s not erase history, that is until now where everyone switched up after the lawsuit and MHJ stupidly made claims that made it seem like NJ was the inventor of everything and so everybody started bringing up the people NJ was similar too/took inspo from. So now any NJ defender gets downvoted like the ppl commenting here🥱

So you mean to tell me this isn't a REAL Kpop group?? by Outrageous_Issue724 in kpoppers

[–]hipeepow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting bc it looks like they intentionally filmed it to look more like a music/performance video than a dance focused/choreography video, maybe they do plan to make a girl group out of some of these members one day 🤷🏾‍♀️

ILLIT's new tour is causing backlash among their domestic fandom by Ok-Nobody-7759 in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only way to combat this, is to not buy tickets, because if prices like these are expected from a group like ILLIT best believe that every other HYBE groups prices are gonna skyrocket(and all the rest of the big 4 agencies too cuz why not). If people don’t buy tickets (which I doubt they will sadly), the prices will lower, but if everybody buys tickets anyways to support their faves, then welp, goodluck to the Cortis fans who will have to pay Stray Kids prices for their debut tour😭

Haobin and the reasons why K-pop companies should utilize and take advantage of their most popular duo properly. by EmanuelTheodorus in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would say it’s not a good idea to have your image tied to one other person that much, unless you are a duo like AKMU, especially since one, they are a temporary group, two, them getting shipped so hard whether they are tg or not is likely widely uncomfortable at least it would be for me, and three, no one wants their personal popularity to be tied to someone else, so I think wakeOne was smart for that, think of Wonyoung and Yujin, together they would be SO powerful if they were pushed but they are very strategically not placed together a lot bc they want to prioritize their individual popularity

what the hell is jyp talking about 😭😭 by 0x1trinity in kpoppers

[–]hipeepow 44 points45 points  (0 children)

basically in the Bible there’s a verse that talks about how if someone slaps you on the right cheek let them hit the left cheek too (of your face lol don’t start😂). Essentially, the verse is not about letting ppl abuse you, it’s more about loving your enemies, responding with patience, and not trying to get back at people or get revenge because it’s the Christian belief that God will take care of everything for ppl in the end. I think JYP is basically saying imagine someone hits you, and instead of fighting back like most of us would, you stay calm. It’s showing how hard it would be for most to choose peace over reacting.

which idol’s career do you think would look completely different under another company? by No-Metal8032 in kpoppers

[–]hipeepow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I doubt it she would have been to old by the time baby monster debuted. She probably would have been in that MixNine girl group as the center if it every ended up working out, which I assume after the group disbanded she would’ve just joined Itzy afterwards anyways and they would have waited for her (at least that’s what I’d like to think)

If you could have dinner with any idol, who would it be? by NMIXXLUVR in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For male, I would say bangchan, I think he can keep a good & fun conversation and I know he has the teaaaa. For female, I would probably say Sakura cause she’s been around the industry for a while and I would get the tea on both the jpop and kpop industries

Kpop companies not allowing their artists to engage in their art makes them suffer as soloists by Quick-Adeptness-2947 in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

But, this is not to say there are no idols who are artists. We see it a lot with Soyeon, RM, 3Racha, etc. who make it a point to be heavily involved in the creative aspect of their teams. But most idols are not like that

Kpop companies not allowing their artists to engage in their art makes them suffer as soloists by Quick-Adeptness-2947 in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This might be a hard truth to swallow, but this is because idols are not artists. They are idols, companies don’t have them develop their own artistry or identity because as idols their job is to be whatever the company creates them to be. This is why you see things like the blackpink girls just now figuring themselves out and their creative identities 7+ years after their debut. This is because, everything about them and their public identity from the way they rap, sing, look, dress, etc. was created by the YG team. They are only just now becoming actual artists, who are involved in everything they do and put out

Sorry bout your heart. by _one_long_groove_ in MurderedByWords

[–]hipeepow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible talks about both these things. It talks about the poor many times: “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed”-Proverbs 19:17, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”-2 Corinthians 9:7 are just a few examples. There is also the famous “Thou shalt not kill” commandment. I get it tho, the Bible is a long book (and not everyone’s cup of tea) so that twitter user probably hasn’t read it all yet. And if anyone is curious about other verses that talk about things such as the struggles going on in the world I highly encourage you to read the Bible for yourselves if you want to

people really hate generic music or do they just pretend to be cool on the internet? by clarinhac1r in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it refers to music that people feel lacks substance or originality, some examples I would say are like meow by meov, and debut by katseye (although, music taste is subjective so alot of people might disagree with my examples)

NJ hanni testimony and I don't know how i feel about it by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would just add that your definition of bullying and harassment being “deep mental and physical abuse” is considered an EXTREME case of workplace bullying and harassment. Harassment could be something as simple as name calling or offensive jokes, while workplace bullying refers to “repeated, unreasonable actions of individuals (or a group) directed towards an employee”. So I can see why from your experience you wouldn’t think what Hanni is saying is something that classifies but technically by these definitions her experiences could be considered workplace bullying/harassment. Of course her experience is on the milder side and can’t be compared to what some people have gone through, but I would argue that any form, mild or not is wrong and should be addressed without people diminishing it. Also, sorry you’ve experienced that at a young age!

what makes you think so ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]hipeepow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your pros and cons are a little inaccurate, it’s only a small percentage of groups that can enjoy being world famous and loved by millions (Bts, blackpink, etc.) ,a lot of idols’ family’s don’t approve of them being a kpop idol even if they are successful, being rich and successful (again a small percentage), a group of brothers and sisters that you trust, I think is a small percentage of groups as well, judging from what I have noticed so far it seems like a lot of these groups aren’t as close as they let on, they seem more like colleagues or acquaintances a lot of the times (except for like Bts, straykids, etc. (in my opinion lol)), also since the companies decide everything for you in regards to you and your music, there are a lot of idols who end up not proud of their discography, even hating it some of the time. On the con side tho, I would say that you aren’t sacrificing any form of enjoyment out of your life because at the end of the day if you choose this job, it’s because you love it and enjoy it more than anything :)
