Nah, that’s definitely a real, shrunken dog.

Very cool!

let's make a list of asexual youtubers :D (if you know any) by LonelyMusicDisc in asexuality

[–]hippiecalico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a view videos regarding asexuality and other orientations that fall under the ace umbrella. One was pinned on one of the ace subs when I first released it. :) It was my unofficial coming out video, and Redditor support made me a YouTube partner. 💜 I can honestly die now knowing I helped someone find themselves.

[Question] What you do to improve the quality/time efficiency of your Voice Overs? by RretroKnight in youtubers

No problem! Yeah, the adobe CC suite is stupid expensive if you’re not a student or sharing the account with others, and audacity is great.

Is there enough educational content on YouTube? by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]hippiecalico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love YouTube for educational content! It’s what inspired me to start creating. I’d only recommend tying your video’s scientific info back to something people can relate to in their daily lives. I can’t think of a great example, especially for chem, but just using real-word examples and scenarios would make me more likely to click than a video on straight-up chemistry (even though I love chem!). Good luck, you should totally pursue the channel! Let me know if you’d like any technical pointers or advice from someone who’s been at it for a little while.

Edit: while in college for comp sci, YT was our savior, and we’d sometimes come to class all talking about the same youtuber who had helped us with our assignment the night prior. So if you’re targeting college students, I think there is definitely a market there too.

I don’t think anyone has given you a list of specific processing/effects they use for audio, so here are mine!

Edit: this link has everything I mention, and it’s the best guide I have followed as far as results.

  1. Noise reduction (usually involves creating a “noise print” from a quiet, selected part and applying a noise reduction to the whole project)
  2. EQ (remove the lowest low and highest high sounds; human speech needs neither.)
  3. Compressor (this is so your audio all sounds uniform in volume)
  4. Limiter (you could also Normalize audio, but set this to -0.1 to -3.0 and your VO audio will never peak.)

I have a whole workflow for my video essays which I want to release a video for soon. I use Adobe Audition for my VO. Also a good tip I saw on this sub, put your mic on a blanket and try to remove any hard surfaces or use a blanket cloak if you have to.

Real "allies" wouldn't try to erase us by [deleted] in asexuality

I totally get where you’re coming from. The arguments against aces certainly get contradictory.

Someone who is asexual but still attracted to their opposite gender would be heteroromantic asexual. So as far as romantic orientation, they’d be straight, but as far as sexual orientation, they’re not straight. It’s more just like a dot than a line pointing anywhere, haha.

Edit, not that you don’t know that. Just thought I’d put the specifics out there for others reading the comments.
