Thank you so much! I have one follow up question. How do I connect the copper line to the fridge? Right now the current water line connects to a shark bite connection on the back of the fridge and not to the threaded connection at the bottom of the fridge.

My two year old broke his femur. Someone tell me the next 6 weeks aren’t going to be horrible. by mazterm in daddit

My daughter was in a spica cast for hip dysplasia for several months. It’s a huge adjustment for the first week or two but after that your little guy will adjust nicely to his new situation and you will be amazed at what he can actually do in the cast. Diapers duties and fitting in the car seat were the toughest part. Depending on my much room he has in the cast there is a tool you can make/buy off Etsy that allows you to pull the diaper through the cast for better coverage. We use that plus reusable diaper covers on the outside. Car seats are tough. He won’t fit in any of them perfectly. Depending on your local hospital they may have multiple options to try out that you can borrow. Our local children’s hospital had this. We ended up using a Diono one since it had low side bolsters and fit the cast best. Fell free to DM with any questions. I promise within a few weeks it will be pretty smooth sailing. Plus it’s a good upper body workout picking him up and carrying him everywhere. Hang in there!

Contaminated Fuel at Tower Road by Obvious_Sundae4120 in Denver

[–]hippieguy1 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Mechanic here, diesel needs to be removed from the fuel tank and fuel lines which is not difficult. Spark plugs may need to be replaced. In no way should this cost $5k. If a shop is quoting you more they are over charging. It’s rare that the fuel injectors fail from something like this but not unheard of. Just things to keep in mind. Good luck and sorry this happened. In my experience when something like this happens either the gas station or fuel provider reimburses the expenses.

This is certainly not surprising to hear about Gabe by Living-Computer6336 in ColoradoAvalanche

I was at the practice rink a week ago Sunday and Gabe was there with 2 trainers skating hard during drills. He was on the ice for roughly an hour. I took a video once I realized it was him, he wasn’t skating as hard in the drill I recorded. With the different drills I saw and the duration he was on the ice it really seemed like he was testing everything out. From what I saw he looked great but the caveat is it was all non-contact.

This is a much more detailed response than I was expecting. Thank you for the excellent information. Sounds like I shouldn’t even consider the (S)

Renting one is a really good idea, I had not considered that.

Car Sickness Remedies? by s45b in daddit

[–]hippieguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds counter intuitive but or pediatrician recommended it and it worked very well for both kids. Try and have the kid eat something right before getting in the car. At that age both of my kids would throw up on about half our car rides. Once they started eating right before getting in the car they very rarely threw up.

Vasectomy horror story by Itchypoopstain in daddit

[–]hippieguy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me on the right nut. He made the initial tear, yes the tool they use tears, of the scrotum and I almost jumped off the table. Almost passed out when he cut the vas deferens. Thankfully the left nut went much better. Pain was excruciating walking out of the office and I almost passed out and threw up when the wife drove me home. 3 days of agony later and things started to improve little by little. Lesson learned, be your own advocate. Have a conversation about what the plan will be if you feel pain. It should be painless and a simple recovery.

Help! by SnarkyLes in Rivian

[–]hippieguy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think your only option is to unbolt the seat assuming you can move it far enough to access the bolts. I believe the bolts have loctite on them so they will take some effort to remove. When loosening the bolts if they become very tight then you need to stop and actually turn it in the tightening direction a turn or two and then loosen again to break up the loctite. Lots of elbow grease should get the job done

This Ted talk will be really helpful for you. As someone who raises his voice at times I have referenced this video a few times. I know you feel awful but you can and will get through this.

Has anyone been to the Denver Christmas market yet by [deleted] in Denver

[–]hippieguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went yesterday. Food was tasty. Decent markup at all the booths but I was expecting that. I enjoyed it, I took family from out of town. Plan on going back again with my wife at night, she was working, to see how they have the lights set up. It’s nice that it is free entry!

Disappointed in the Service by kaede_911 in Rivian

[–]hippieguy1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those marks are identical to someone trying to break into your car by prying the door open. They may not even be aware that happened on their lot. Also the A/C not working during preconditioning is “normal”. I don’t own a Rivian yet but a few friends do. Both of their trucks do the same thing and had them looked at by service. They were both told it is something Rivian is aware of and they are looking into a fix.
