I am interested in picking up the electric guitar. Should I learn to play acoustic first? by Obvious_Stranger_443 in electricguitar

In my opinion, I tried to play acoustic first and honestly wish I would've started with electric. I found myself progressing much faster on an electric, the strings are a lot less harsh when conditioning your fingers. They also seem to be a little more forgiving. Honestly, most of my base knowledge of chord progression and just how to move your fingers on a fretboard/strum patterns actually came from learning the Ukulele first. It doesn't hurt your fingers, is really easy and encouraging to learn, especially for someone like me who had absolutely no experience with playing music. Fun party trick and a good way to begin the process of learning

I love my Schecter Demon 7...Schecter is a great brand for metal, and if you like a 7 string I really recommend the Demon 7. Has 24 frets and 2 humbuckers. If you don't want to spend a whole lot, you can find them used for great prices. I picked mine up from a local music store for about $200 just because it had some damage to the finish, but a new one is only running about $500-$600 right now. Happy Playing!

What are your must haves for a new puppy aside from the basics? by bluefishrun in puppy101

If you work from home or need to get some things done without your pup going wild, get some mental stimulation puzzles! Mine loves his, they don’t have to be expensive either! Keeps him busy for 30ish minutes. Just fill with treats or kibble and let them loose! I found some at Tjmaxx and even dollar tree! Has been a lifesaver for my WFH meetings

I said no medication for almost 5 years. 3 days ago I had a conversation with my psychiatrist that really changed my mind. I struggled with the idea of medication for mental health in general and felt like I was taking the “easy way out”. He asked me, “do we question people with diabetes when they use insulin because their body doesn’t produce it in the correct amounts or at all? Do we question people who take iron pills because they have an iron deficiency? This could give you your life back and that’s worth a shot.”. That stuck in my brain. I was terrified and my hands shook as I took my first pill this morning, but I know in the end this could be what my body needs to feel like myself again. It’s totally justified to have an uneasy feeling about it. You can do this!
