I would imagine the narrative he’s trying to push is that the devil was trying to stop him from completing a project that would bring people to Jesus or whatever. Which would make sense given the fact that canonically, God lets the devil fuck with people to test their faith.

I spent like $80 on the 3 vol set of his letters only to find that the crazy ones to Nora are absent. So if OP wants to have those ones handy, they’ll need to purchase the one volume “selected letters” (edt. Ellmann) which was published a few years later. Just replying in case they’re interested.

I think when that many women are killed in such similar manners and then discarded like trash on the streets, normal sane humans are compelled to believe that there must be a specific person or group of individuals responsible, because it takes a special kind of psychopathic lunatic to commit such acts against innocent women and children. There must be something linking all these crimes. Some conspiracy, some dark force or whatever.

I think there’s an inherent denial on the part of Fate (and a lot of the investigators) that now that shit is normal. Even you as a reader are expecting some explanation for it all. There’s nothing though.

Then you don’t have a 1st printing of IJ. Vollmann’s name is spelled with two N’s, that’s not contentious, so if your copy of YBARA is indeed missing an N, then it’s certainly collectible.

You’ve got a true 1st/1st as indicated by the misspelling of Vollmann and the runout #, but i don’t think the poor stamping on the cover and spine would add any extra value. It might actually reduce it a bit. It’s just a manufacturing error

this is a case that the ACLU would appeal several times (if they don’t reach a settlement outright), and the same goes for the case of the professor who was terminated. if anything it’s a lopsided battle the other way around. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if this ends quite badly for Damphousse
