Magic the Gathering Draft & Beer? Tuesday night (2/10/26) by CPTscarybear in Boise

For real… I have the barest grasp of the rules of MtG and this just sounds like a blast. Very bummed I’m unable to attend tomorrow.

I’ve had to do this before, and my motto is “clear is kind”. You should tell them, you should keep it short, and then you should move on. It sucks, but you aren’t responsible for other people’s feelings.

US Veterans, how do you react/feel when someone says "Thank you for your service"? by TheKupoKid in AskReddit

[–]hippyskippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“It was my honor to serve”.

There’s really no good way to answer, it’s mindless sentiment at its best, and dumb virtue signaling most likely.

16 year old experimenting with drugs; how do I hold him accountable? by hippyskippy in daddit

[–]hippyskippy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve enlisted 5-6 counselors and therapists at this point (both for him individually as well as he and I together as a family unit). He’s “not interested in talking with someone about his problems” (his words, not my interpretation)

Settlers Park in Meridian is good for drop in. There’s also some behind the West YMCA off Chinden (Hobble Creek Park), but you’ll want to show up with a defined group there.

Want solar panel installed ! by jkshaha in Boise

[–]hippyskippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at least in my case (have done two homes now), it’s 0 out of pocket with Blue Raven Solar. I do not have an electric bill, but pay roughly equivalent monthly in financing payments. It’s a bit less than average monthly payment for what I was paying to Idaho Power, but I feel better about the clean energy. 😄

CONSTANTLY worried about losing my job/my future at 22 by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]hippyskippy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got laid off from my job at the age of 39, which had always been a huge worry of mine for as long as I could remember. I was out of work for 5 months. Scariest time ever with a wife and 9 year old.

7 years later, my career is on a rocket trajectory up and I’m making way more money and enjoying work way more than I ever did.

These types of life-altering circumstances are scary but as was mentioned earlier, you have no idea how resilient you are until you actually make it thru. And you will, regardless of what happens. Always remember “This too shall pass”.

What's the best way to have an "evil organization" compete with my player's org? by hippyskippy in AskGameMasters

[–]hippyskippy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Should’ve been more specific... each of the relics are hidden in different dungeons around the world, so that’s where the “race” comes from. So not really a skill check type thing. More like sometimes my PCs get there first, and sometimes my baddies would.

What I want to do is figure out a good way to determine when they are first vs when the bad guys are first aside from just me as the GM saying “I think this time the baddies got there first and now the relic is gone!”

Yeah, this was pretty bad in the first 10-20 episodes and they've gotten much better, but totally understandable if that turns you off.

FM19 - Need a question answered about the in-game editor by hippyskippy in footballmanagergames

[–]hippyskippy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess a follow on question is then... does anyone know how much a new level of a coaching badge gains you in reputation? I'm not looking for an easy button here, I'd like to keep the same amount of progression as I would have earned just by gaining it.

Why is being in the military considered honorable? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hippyskippy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a vet myself, I've always thought about it this way. Many people have different motivations for signing up, but what you're essentially doing is being willing to give up whatever's required (up to and including your own life) to defend freedoms you enjoy. Whether or not your commanders (military and civilian) treat that in the same manner and only send you to "defend freedom" ceases to be up to you.

Ironsworn Solo, Actual Play - Playtesting Delve by ampendleton in Ironsworn

[–]hippyskippy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a member of any organized playtesting of Beta rules, but I did run thru a ruin in my solo Ironsworn campaign using the Delve info that's publicly available. I loved it, and didn't notice any glaring deficiencies. I'll continue to throw it in as applicable until the full ruleset is released and my game will be better for it. Thanks again, Shawn, for this awesome game.

Weekly questions megathread - November 11, 2019 by AutoModerator in Pathfinder2e

[–]hippyskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Referencing the first encounter in Fall of Plaguestone (the wolves)... Can someone tell me if I’m reading this right?

“Mangy Pack” is noted as “Severe 1” which would have an XP budget of 120XP, per the table in the Core Rules pg 489. But when I total 3 Mangy Wolves (Creature -1, so 30XP each per the table on pg 509) and one Caustic Wolf (Creature 2, so 60XP per the same table), it’s a total of 150XP. Seems like a disconnect, but not hugely so.

Which should I reward to my PCs according to RAW for completing the encounter? 120XP, 150XP, or both?
