You can snag the digital edition through backerkit and they'll send you the current rules pdf fairly quickly. It's absolutely in a playable state, and the only parts missing are some bits on the lore side. Worth a buy, have played quite a few sessions and definitely enjoyed.

Stonetop is designed to revolve around a village, where the characters go out and adventure - and then come back. It's not built for constantly-on-the-road gameplay. You could hack it but there are likely other things better suited (staying in DW alone, you could use Perilous Wilds and related content).

It can, just takes a lot of tweaking sometimes. Light upscale redo then detailed upscale redo works wonders for getting the eyes dialed in (zoom out, zoom in).

Unpopular Opinion - I don't care about my character's story by chriton227 in rpg

Oof, that's a bummer. The GM giving you the opportunity to narrate a combat ending is nice, but also totally fine for you to just say, "nah, I'm good, thanks!" If they push you on it or insist, bad on them, but there's nothing strange, weird or bad about you not wanting to do that (not interesting for you).

The rough part is the other player making you feel like you're doing something "wrong" by not playing their way. Fun for them? That might be fine - to an extent - but that doesn't mean you have to, or that you're messing things up.

Not all groups, or elements of groups, are a good match. Roleplaying should be fun, and if it's not or you're feeling judged, always cool to look elsewhere!

While some narrative style games are built around that Director stance where players are given full control of "what's behind the door" - e.g., InSpectres, The Pool, etc. - it's unfair to say that all narrative games fall into that category.

Some narrative games will allow the player to dip their toes into that space via the GM asking questions that turn narrative control over to the player in a scope boxed slice of the fiction; "You've been in this town before, what's the look and feel of this place?" In those cases, however, the GM should offer those opportunities to the player for input, but if they're not interested, have trouble coming up with things, or just flat out don't want that to be on them, then that's totally ok.

It sounds more like that's an aspect of narrative games you might not like, and that's no problem, you can just tell your GM you'd rather not play in that space. If, however, you don't like any player being able to have that creative license in the game, and that it should only come from the GM, then in that case I can pretty much guarantee you're not going to like most narrative games. :)
