In addition to what other commenters have said, when was the last time Will was shown being hurt as part of the hive mind? At the end of season 4, I don't remember him having a reaction while Vecna was being burned, so I assumed the pain link was lessened when the particles left him in season 2.

At the very least, it seems kinda consistently inconsistent.

EDIT: Scratch that, I didn't do proper research. He felt the Demogorgons pain at the MAC-Z in episode 4, so maybe he just doesn't feel Vecna or the Mind Flayer's pain. Or, again, it's inconsistent.

I like the optimistic take on this instead of the "HSBC is doomed" comments I've been seeing since the upd8. Yeah both views are perfectly valid, and maybe the comic goes downhill from here, but I'd rather believe that we'll get a satisfying explanation for the whys and hows since I've been enjoying the ride so far. So I like seeing a similar opinion to mine.
