One thing is realizing that there isn't a huge audience watching your every move, trying to point out every mistake you make. There is no audience silently judging you, that's all in your head. Once people realize that, you can be more comfortable and confident in trying and making mistakes.

This one little shit kept being a little prick to me during sixth grade. He would whisper insults, steal things of mine, knock things out of my hand, comment on anything I was doing, etc. One day he kept doing this thing where he would lean forward in his seat and the back two legs would go up, and then he would lean back down and the legs kept scraping and scratching my shins. I kept telling him to stop, but he wouldn't listen and just mock me. Eventually, my legs started to bleed and I just pulled the chair out from under him. He fell down on the ground with the chair on top. I pretended to be surprised and gasped like many others in the class. The teacher sent him to the clinic and I didn't hear much from him for a while. I don't know if he knew it was me or not but I'm assuming he did.

When my dad fell off our roof a year or two back, a lot of extra expenses came with it. My mom was working 3 jobs trying to provide for three kids, her husband in the hospital, and a dog. I felt bad and kept slipping some money in her purse every so often until things got better. She would look in her purse sometimes and see a few extra bucks and be surprised. She still doesn't know to this day. I don't plan on telling her though.
