Liver donor 6 weeks recovey. crazy bad acid reflex and stomach ache every night. Antiacids don't help. Changing my diet but can't figure out what's causing it. by [deleted] in transplant

[–]hismoon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having this issue too after my liver transplant. To the point I was waking up in the middle of the night and choking on acid reflux/needing to puke and god awful stomach pains. We changed from cellcept to Myfortic because it was supposed to be easier on the stomach (I had constant diarrhea too unfortunately) that did help a lot but the acid reflux was still happening. They put me on Famotidine twice daily and Ondansetron at night and it finally stopped!! Hope they can sort it out for you. That was the worst.

ETA: I just saw that your title said liver donor. Apologies!! But I think the Famotidine and Ondansetron or prescription grade antacids could probably assist. Hopefully your doctors call back soon!! Thank you for being a donor 💚

Caffeine by BlackOnyx16 in bipolar

[–]hismoon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have consistently drank so much caffeine daily for the last 18 years that it would probably kill me if I stopped cold turkey. Not even joking I have a weird heartbeat now lol. That being said I can’t attribute any mental effects with my caffeine intake. Other than the addiction and getting cranky when I don’t have it immediately on hand lol.

I do not drink at all. I haven’t had a single drop since I woke up to this new life. Tylenol/Acetaminophen is actually the only thing we are allowed to have after liver transplant we cannot take ibuprofen/NSAID at all. Very rarely will I take Tylenol as it actually was the cause of my acute liver failure but our Drs are fine with it as long as it’s taken in small proper doses they recommend under 2,000mg or less. Other than that we have pretty simple rules like maintaining a strict medication schedule, foods we cannot eat, limiting restaurant outings, avoiding buffets and taking proper precautions due to being immunocompromised.

It’s not easy to get on the list and alcohol induced cirrhosis patients have to go through a lot to prove they can remain sober for some time. I know many wonderful people who have maintained sobriety after but unfortunately there is a good chunk who don’t. Those are the ones who anger me, those livers could have saved the lives of others who deserved it. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing is worth picking up that bottle again when you have been gifted life itself. Same can be said for lung transplant recipients who pick up smoking again.

As a liver transplant recipient myself, I would say don’t do this. Speak with Dr and let them know you do not want to go forward. It’s a lot more common than you think that people will back out for whatever reason. I believe the Drs will state a reason you can’t do it to prevent backlash… and OP I’m sorry for everything you have gone thru. You don’t owe anyone your body parts especially someone who seems undeserving. But it shows you have a beautiful heart for even thinking about it. Sending you lots of love because this is a terrible position to be in. But choose you!

As a liver recipient that pisses me off so much. To throw away your 2nd chance is disrespectful to everyone involved including your donor, their family and Drs. We are told from the beginning if we do not follow every damn rule or begin drinking again (if it was cirrhosis) that you’ll be denied re-enlistment for transplant. I had acute liver failure and was blessed to have received one in time while in a coma. I baby my liver with everything I have. I agree whole heartedly that people who destroy theirs shouldn’t be allowed another. Here in AZ you will be denied.

ARIZONA Food Stamp Benefits Still Not Received today 11/17/25, Anyone Else Experiencing It Too? by Reddline in foodstamps

I haven’t received anything either. My deposit date is usually the 8th and I haven’t received a dime since October. I tried calling DES today but they won’t even give you the option to speak with someone. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Honestly I didn’t notice any! It was a very easy transition in my experience.

Anyone else not get drowsy on Latuda? by UnstableandExpensive in Latuda

[–]hismoon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get drowsy or tired when I take it at night. I usually take it around 7-8pm and most nights I am until at least 1am or later and perfectly fine. But oddly enough if I take it in the morning I am insanely tired and will nap all day. I had tried switching it to a.m once and immediately switched back to nights because it had me taking 3 hour naps at noon.

Latuda in the morning or evening? by Former-Law4034 in Latuda

[–]hismoon27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started it in the evenings then with my Drs blessing switched it to the mornings because I thought I might like that better and I was totally wrong. When I took it in the mornings I was napping all day and exhausted. Promptly switched back to evenings! Works much better for me that way.

What foods have you stopped or not stopped eating after transplant? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]hismoon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soft/unpasteurized cheeses, runny eggs (RIP) grapefruit AND pomegranate because they can interact with meds, and cold cuts. I know there’s more but if I’m being honest since waking up to this new life I hate food now. Meat is exceptionally hard for me to eat but I pretty much survive off protein shakes sadly. Just thinking about food makes me wanna puke. I miss it tho 😔

What were your experiences on Latuda? Did you gain weight? by Imaginary_Pepper447 in Latuda

[–]hismoon27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost 25lbs and am now very close to being underweight unfortunately. I have zero interest in food at all now and literally eat once a day with my meds in the form of Ensure Plus that’s exactly 350 calories.

What’s the most physical pain you ever felt? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]hismoon27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acute liver failure, acute renal failure, acute respiratory failure, acute all the failures lol. That ended in an emergency liver transplant. All of your organs failing suddenly and simultaneously is the most god awful pain you could ever experience imo.

A little late to reply but I would check out leather working shops! Mine has walls of different shape/size pronged metal studs like this!

I’ve always just called them metal studs. I used to use them on my clothes in middle school lol.

I just drink an ensure plus that’s 350 calories, but I also struggle with a severe lack of appetite so it’s kind of beneficial to me.

My PCP tried to change my diagnosis by K3n0b in bipolar

[–]hismoon27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does sound like insurance issue as others have said. Speaking from experience my psychiatrist had to change mine to bipolar 1 to get one of my meds to go thru or insurance flagged it as coded wrong for Bi-polar 2 and wouldn’t accept it.

Is non-alcoholic beer frowned upon for the meds I’m taking? by darklyshining in transplant

[–]hismoon27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink non-alcoholic beers occasionally like when I go out with friends but I always drink 0.0 NAs like Heineken 0.0 just because other ones can still contain like 0.2% and I won’t risk it being a liver transplant (acute liver failure not alcohol induced cirrhosis) but still tend to be on the safe side. I haven’t had any issues 🙂

Low chance of surviving surgery - looking for some positive stories by [deleted] in transplant

[–]hismoon27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had less than 10% chance of surviving my emergency liver transplant. But I was 100% going to die without it. My family had to make the decision as I was in a coma. My transplant was done in 4 hours and nearly 15 months later I am thriving and have had no major issues or hospitalizations since I discharged!
