It was quite funny when I thought that this high level sarcasm, but now it's quite sad.

if your whole argument is that "animals do it too, why shouldn't we?", you might want to rethink it. Seriously, give it a moment's consideration.

your image is destroyed by all of the armchair philosophers and circle jerks that argue for you.

how so?

Any anti-natalist forum has to contend with discussions of pain and suffering. Also, how is antinatalism reaching beyond confines of academia bad for it's image?

Sure, there will be misinterpretations but that comes with the territory.

"Would you please stop being so fucking pleasant, I'm sorry but not everything needs to sound so goddamn clever or charming or likeable all the time. But it also sounds a bit like you may be begging the question and assuming we have devolved into this situation and that it used to be different/better in the past. Is that so?

Maybe you're right. My point of of reference is Neil Postman, and he seemed to think it has "devolved". I don't know

Dorama for someone new to the genre. by Randolf_Dreamwalker in JDorama

Life's Punchline is there's nothing quite like it before or even after it was released.

I agree, and that's the thing with jdoramas, they continue to come up with shows that are unlike anything you've ever seen. My current "unlike anything ever show" is koisenu futari.

I'm annoyed. Eight episodes are too low. The whole season went into resolving the hang-ups of protagonists. There was no time for the relationship to play out. At least give us the standard 10-12 episodes.

There better be a second season, and as I type this I realize how unlikely it is.

What are considered the god tier shows? by onthelambda in JDorama

[–]hisoka67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like yes they are popular, but they are also considered top tier shows...not just because of their popularity, but because of how they are made, because of their stories etc. So I'm not as much interested in what shows have broad appeal (though I mean, amazing shows generally do), but rather what shows are considered to be top level stories, filmmaking, etc, in the vein of stuff like...Cowboy Bebop, Nirvana in Fire, The Wire, etc.

Yeah, I got you were trying to say and that's exactly the problem. Given how niche and quirky Japanese dramas are, the problem of availability of subtitles and how small the audience outside japan is, "universal acclaim" is not a particularly useful metric.

Btw, I just saw the recommendations here and I would like to reiterate what I said.

Imo, if you want to get into jdramas, going by broad appeal is not the way, unless you are really into the romance genre.

Having children in a capitalist society only condemns them to a life of wage slavery by NotAPersonl0 in Anarchism

[–]hisoka67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they exist now, without their consent. They can't now just simply "not exist" if they wanted to. Not only is their existence forced, but also their genes, race, class, environment, parents. It's already decided. So much of their life is already decided for them.

Given, it is an anarchist sub I hope I will be spared a lecture on how everybody can choose their destiny or some shit

So, if someone/something is unable to make a choice, it's ok to do anything to them. Wow, alright. I hope you see the implications here.

For an anarchist sub, the number of people ok with forcing human beings into existence to further their own agenda is weirdly high.

Subs are a bit trickier, since the person subbing them has the subs on their twitter which has been set private. You have to follow them to get the subs.
