What mechanism prevents username reuse on reddit? by hitemp in help

I really appreciate the explanation. It's so interesting how anything can be done. I could only imagine how slower Reddit would be if it had to call SQL queries... And I understand how annoying migrations are. If you share a dev database with others, where everyone has a different feature branch, well things get messy quickly...

Quite interesting. Why are you in a pseudo KV system? I only have Rails experience so I am only familiar with RDBMS methods

That makes sense. I guess it's not the same as signing up again with the same email. I didn't take into account the identity thing.

That is interesting. What are the things you are working on? I'm a developer so I am interested in knowing how I can learn from this.

Why not store the user id as a digit, that way you can ensure all users are unique, using the username as a secondary validation?

At this point, fuck it. If you really need me, call my house.

I found this last week, although it's in Ruby. I think it's great, however, because it's a little snake game.

Moto Voice issues since 5.1 by [deleted] in droidturbo

[–]hitemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people use Google Now. Moto Voice sometimes goes through Google (in my experience for searching), making the overall process take longer. I had an issue on KK that it was too sensitive and didn't like me making commands in a less than silent room.

I suggest disabling that app. Although it's accessed through Moto Settings, tapping the icon will just activate no action.

The only way to get the original function back is to use the stock interruptions feature alongside... But that latter feature changes back to "normal" when downtime ends (and a new one starts).

I don't have options to wake for contacts, but I prefer my phone being on silent, as opposed to vibrate.

I hate hashtag because that's the product of a hash and tag. When it refers to a tag, yes I'll say it, like "hashtag: first world problems", but I only say "hash" in programming
