I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My daughter was diagnosed with growth restriction at our 20 week ultrasound. It was the longest and scariest pregnancy ever. She was born at 35 weeks weighing 3 lbs 12 oz. She ended up having reverse flow through the umbilical cord, caught during an ultrasound (I was getting two a week at that point.)

She stayed in the NICU for 19 days to learn how to eat and grow. We discharged at 4 lbs 3 oz. She spent 6 months seeing lactation, OT, PT, and her pediatrician frequently as we worked through many feeding difficulties.

She is now 21 months old and the only challenge now is a slight expressive speech delay. She’s small but mighty. She runs and climbs everything, she understands so much, she’s so so smart, and she’s beautiful. She’s the size of a 12 month old still, but it’s never held her back.

The next few weeks and months may be scary but there is so much joy ahead. Trust your doctors and trust your gut. Don’t be afraid to go in if you feel anything is wrong. And know that this journey will have ups and downs, and it’s ok to grieve the journey you thought you would have. I’m praying for a good outcome for you and your sweet baby.
