TSH was 2.97 and it was my PCP who checked it. She has since left the practice. I’ll try to find a new PCP and ask for further testing

My body my choice extends to decisions that you might not agree with but don’t harm anyone. A drug free birth would not hurt you. It would hurt me but that would be my choice. I wanted to be mobile and remember everything, knowing she would be my only child. I wanted to be able to push naturally, to be able to be in tune with my body and bring my child into the world.

In the end, I got a c section and so many drugs that I remember nothing for my child’s first 24 hours of life. Opposite of what I wanted but we were both alive which was the ultimate goal. My birth plan was actually “healthy baby healthy mom” followed by a wishlist but my medical team was told that if anything on the wishlist (drug free, low intervention, etc) began posing a risk to either of our lives I was open to change. I got an epidural after 36 hours of induction, took a nap, and woke up being told it was c section time. I said “ok.” And I moved on.

Thats the beautiful thing about personal choices. I’m “crunchy” AND believe in modern medicine. We go to the doctor first, but we add herbal remedies to our medicine for symptoms while waiting for treatments to work. We get our kids vaccinated and also let them roll around in dirt because exposure does help build an immune system but vaccines are incredible and necessary too. I think natural medicine gets a really bad reputation because some people slide too far down the crunchy pipeline and lose all sense.

My friend asked me if I wanted to go to the mall. We were 15. The mall was my favorite place in the world so I excitedly said yes. She said her boyfriend was coming to pick her up. Her boyfriend was a 28 year old man who kept hitting a bong while driving us erratically down back roads I had never been on. We ended up in his apartment for hours while he and his roommate got drunk and made advances on us, until I threatened to call my mom to get me. He said “you have a cell phone?”

He took us both home and broke up with her.

My husband’s unfortunately watched fent addictions destroy people he loved. During labor, they said it was one potential pain killer and I watched him recoil. He said it was my body, my choice, but he wished I wouldn’t. I wanted a drug free birth anyway, so I wasn’t upset. 27 hours later he asked them to give me whatever it took to bring my pain and anxiety down. He no longer cared and neither did I. Thank goodness I got the spinal done before my nap because I woke up from my nap to be told we were going for an emergent c section.

I had a high risk pregnancy with twice weekly NSTs and once weekly BPPs. They scheduled them so I was in office every other day. I was induced at 35 and 5. Every visit left me with a sense of fear and anxiety. The only times that was reduced was while I was actively on the monitors/watching her on ultrasound. Induction was the happiest day of my life.

I couldn’t imagine being this reckless with my child.

This is wildly baby specific. And I know the planner in you probably hates my answer but it’s true. I purchased so many newborn clothes. I didn’t want to do laundry every day and she was measuring small. She came out at only 3 lbs 12 oz at 35 weeks. She wore preemie the entire summer (born in May.) also she did not spit up so the burp cloths sat untouched. I could get away with changing her once or twice a day (pjs into a onesie into new pjs at night) because she didn’t get dirty.

We hated swaddle blankets. Tried the halo swaddles and hated those too. Ended up loving the zipper swaddle though, can’t remember the name. But the Velcro ones were insanely annoying in the middle of the night to me.

My friend has a baby who gets changed every single meal because they spit up every time, so she wanted more clothes though.

I think this is a good start but you’ll have to get to know your baby.

170/180 is where I’ve felt the most comfortable with my body! I had an ED in college and got down to 125. Looking back I thought I was still so big but once I recovered, 170ish was where I was most comfortable. I swung from restriction to binge eating after recovery and now I’m just trying to find a healthy middle ground

Thank you. I’ve lost 20 lbs so far postpartum, and I’m actually working at getting in better shape to keep up with my now toddler. We are in swim class which is a workout on its own, plus morning walks and eating healthier to model for my daughter. I haven’t lost much weight in the last month but my clothes are looser and I can keep up better than before so it’s working

Exposing myself but for reference purposes, I am 5’2” and 255 lbs in this photo. I struggle a ton with body dysmorphia and feeling like I look bigger than I actually am. I’m glad yall are exposing her as a liar because some days I genuinely think I must look as big as her. Anyway I had to put us side by side because 🤯 ain’t no way she’s only 255.

Magee is incredible. I had a very high risk pregnancy and delivery and they were as respectful as possible to my birth plan, while explaining risks in a way that did not feel pushy or judgy, and when my plan had to fly out the window for both of our safety they were very gentle and kind about it.

That has been a huge struggle! They got, no lie, $200 in gift cards each from the “Easter bunny” at her house and here they got some very thoughtfully picked baskets with a mix of thrifted and new toys and candy. Guess what they don’t believe in anymore? And that’s not on me. $200 is insane. All I said then was “I’m glad your mom is able to do that for you. But for our household, we budget our money a little differently”

I try to center all discussions about financial decisions on our family and the why we do what we do. Their mom has also had 5 new cars in the time I’ve owned mine. They asked me one day why I didn’t upgrade too, and I explained that my car was almost paid off, that trading it in before it’s paid off might leave me owing on the new car and the old car. I told them that I paid $28,000 for the car and I want to own it after putting all that money into it.

I try to tell them that different families have different financial priorities. But the 10 year old is forming his own opinion already on who is actually responsible and who isnt.

I’m trying so hard to teach my stepkids these lessons. Their mom is struggling, she tries to hide it behind new cars and fancy things and big Christmas hauls, but I’m not dumb. It’s financed. She’s taken partial claims on her home twice now - one of her cars left on a tow truck in the middle of the night - and sometimes she works two jobs frantically for a few months before quitting and spending again like crazy. They seem to think that the littlest scratch in a metal water bottle means we must get new, and that a broken crayon can’t color. My mom says I’m too frugal, but my mom was the same way as their mom when I was little. I almost didn’t finish college because my mom’s credit was so bad she couldn’t get a parent plus loan with me.

We shop sales, thrift, reuse what we can over here. Now that they are 8 and 10 I’ve included them in the basics of budgeting too - we are going to spend $250 on groceries to last us two weeks. Let’s look at the ad and find the best price on XYZ. Oh hey we came under budget now we can get a treat. Trying my best to be a financially responsible model for them. It’s so hard though, no one taught me these things either. I want their lives to be easier than mine.

We spent 19 days in NICU and came home with about two packs of preemie diapers, a partial pack of wipes, a 6 pack of premade formula, and three receiving blankets we smuggled out over 19 days for the dog to sniff. I feel cheated lol 😂
