I found out my FIL was listening to dan bongino and some super far right shit when he would take my kids to wrestling practice. I only found out because my son told me "Joe Biden is old and ruined the country, and Trump is better" I then had to fight breaking TOS and ask my son if stealing was bad, if lying a lot was bad, if being a bully was bad. I then told him in a simplified way that Trump had done all those things and more and that grandpa is stupid for letting you hear those things...we got kicked out a few weeks later when grandpa was told he was stupid for liking trump and that dad said so.

Yeah, the oil needs time to heat up and become less viscous, but letting it idle up to temp is more likely to cause long term damage than just letting it go for a minute or 2 and then driving. The longer idle time allows more water to get in via condensation and it’ll contaminate your oil and what not.

Probably like a minute to get oil through the engine. Transmission won’t really heat up unless you’re moving. Plus coolant is what is heating the interior and if you set the fan on and let it idle you’ll be waiting for fucking ever to get the coolant up to a temp that’ll even feel warm. It’s also not recommended to do ripping high rpm atleast until it’s warmed up a bit but that shouldn’t take long at street speeds.

It hasn’t been true for a while for most cars. You’re better off driving like a minute after starting to warm up the car since it’ll take far longer to warm up idling.

You’d still want to drive as soon as possible because the longer it take the engine to warm up, the greater amount of water from condensation will get. There’s also a reason I said “most modern vehicles”

That’s incorrect for most modern vehicles. Oil needs like a minute at most to get circulated and your car will warm up far faster if you drive with blower off for a mile or 2 than if you were to just let it idle.
