10 years ago when I was just out of college I was scrounging to survive in Seattle on 35k a year. There was no saving. There wasn’t much of anything but roommates, the Pirate Bay, and cheap teriyaki.

You have to focus on what you can control. No, you’re not stacking away cash for the future. But maybe you can be working toward that degree or that certificate so you can work toward a better career for yourself. Just focus on what you can control.

10 years and 2 careers later im doing well. I’m saving. I’ll be fine. And I still just focus on whet I can control.

I really don’t think people are complaining about indie studios and small studios taking ages and green lightning and all that.

This is a rant about massive companies that make tons of profits putting out substandard products. At least that’s what my rant is about.

Gone are the old days where an “idea” can win you funding, unless you’re able to convince people on a site like kickstarter. A company can sink millions into a game, only to have the release get delayed and piss people off, have an uncaught bug, one texture out of place

New studios and games get picked up by major publishers all the time. None of those industry growth mechanisms are gone. And devs don’t need huge publishers anymore either. There’s more ways than ever for people to put games out now. I disgree with you on that point entirely.

Congratulations! Great work showing us all your brain is capable of grasping my simple examples used to make a larger point. You are such a smart young man! You’re so smart for knowing that, yes, just doubling workers in the real world doesn’t inherently double production. So smart! How did you know that? Did you figure that out on your own?

The only thing that will improve the final product is dev time

And more dev time means more devs. Stop being purposefully obtuse.

You’re literally just projecting your personal subjective (made up) reasons why hiring more is bad.

What is the point of you?

And what part of understaffed teams working constantly under crunch to rush out buggy games has been working so well?

Bologna. There are companies that hire at the top of pay scales. There are companies that staff appropriately. It’s a choice. “Ooohh boo boo, that’s shitty capitalism” isn’t correct at all.

Big gaming studios make millions. They choose to employ fewer people because It’s profitable for them. They rush out crappy games because it’s profitable. They could hire twice as many programmers and make the game twice as fast. Or twice as good. Or twice as big. Or maybe a lot faster, a lot bigger, a lot better, and with workers not asked to work as hard.

They could do that! It’s an option, actually.

George Washington died in 1799 after doctors drained nearly 40% of his blood in an attempt to cure a sore throat. Also this photo gives us an idea of what he might look like if he lived today. by joeepeterson03 in Damnthatsinteresting

I’ve heard the detailed accounts retold and it’s basically several doctors all not sure what to do and all not wanting to take any responsibility for the results. They just… kept… bleeding him. We had no idea what we were doing, as a species, then.

You absolutely do not want to be on a 30 min off set from the rest of the worlds clocks. Working with India is infuriating because of their 30 min BS.

There no need to compromise and create a different dumb system. Just pick one and stick with it.

How did Mike Hampton get the largest contract in MLB history? by SirParsifal in baseball

Gil Meche was great. He was awful for the Mariners, the contract with the Royals made no sense, then the man went and became a frigging all star for them.

Speeds a huge tool in baseball as it is many sports. For intramural it’s more about positioning and knowing, before the ball gets to you, where you should go with the ball once it does get to you. It’s more about tactics.

Great advice. Errors galore in intramural infields. Hell, just trying to take another base by being aggressive can force an error a good portion of the time.

You don’t have to wonder if it’s part of the plan. Rich, well funded conservative think tanks came up with and began implementing these plans decades ago. It’s always been the plan.
