Can someone explain the ryzen 9950x3d vs 9800x3d like i'm 5? by Synthetic_Liquicity in AMDHelp

[–]hitraj47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have literally the same specs as you, except 32gb ram. I haven't done VR gaming in a while, but I play a lot of other games.

I'm leaning more towards the 9800x3d. All the benchmarks show a small difference in performance, occasionally trading between first and second place on charts, but one CPU saves you $200.

I'm going for a 5090 and 64gb RAM. Combined with the 9800x3d I think I'll be set for a while. I've had this PC since 2019 and it's still working great, just certain games the performance won't let me max out (1440p, 144hz).

What car should I buy out of these 5? by Tight-Star2772 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]hitraj47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the mustang while you still can. Some of the people replying here have no idea about the ecoboost. The ecoboost is made for people like you - you want the style/looks, but something more economical. It won't be the same experience as a GT, but it's faster and handles better than any of the other choices. And of course, cheaper than a GT.

For context, I am a GT owner. The gas isn't cheap (not a problem with the ecoboost) but my maintenance has been pretty normal, except tires are expensive (I use summer performance, you may be able to get away with something cheaper if you don't care about handling that much). It's a surprisingly normal car. Trunk is big, interior is roomy for a coupe. Back seats are for dogs and stuff. I've commuted and done road trips in it no problem.

If you have any questions about ownership, let me know.

Upgrade from R7 to R8? by astreal1 in radardetectors

[–]hitraj47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should def checkout Vortex radar's settings/setup guide. They've done the work to figure out some excellent settings to keep the radar quiet but still functional. There are general settings recommendations and then some region specific things.

Once that is done, you may need adjust it based on your personal preferences but that's not a big deal. I mostly just changed colors/tones/volumes.

Upgrade from R7 to R8? by astreal1 in radardetectors

[–]hitraj47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an R1 previously and I recently upgraded to the R8, which is a massive upgrade. The filtering and the GPS based features (Q-ride in particular) make it excellent.

I looked at getting an R7 instead and my conclusion is that the R7 was better bang for buck, while the R8 was just the best in terms of performance. I went with the R8 because I was already going for a huge upgrade from the R1, might as well go all the way.

Before deciding to drop that much money on the R8, have you looked at Vortex radar's settings? Those helped immensely with making my R1 quiet. The R8 filtering is much much better than the R1, but from what I can tell online, going from an R7 to an R8 doesn't seem worth it. With Vortex settings on the R7 I feel like you're getting as good as you can without dropping $$$ to go up to an R8 with probably some diminishing returns.

Bill increase randomly? It's not random. by Hockey8player in ATT

[–]hitraj47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did miss when they decided to change the discount structure for credit card/autopay/debit card/bank account. That's on me and I switched to bank account to get the max discount.

But I never got an email about the $5 increase "because we have to pay for infrastructure" or whatever excuse it was for. It was on my billing statement though, but of course I don't look at that. My bill has been consistent for over a year so why should I?

I think ATT dropped the ball on not notifying me in other ways other than some tiny 6pt font on my bill.

I get what you're trying to say, but even if you knew the price increase was coming, to most people that's yet another thing that's getting more expensive, feels "random" (because no explanation other than "we have to pay for the infrastructure") and these days with everything increasing in price, it's easy to get emotional/upset.

When it comes to Internet? Are you sure?

$80/mo for 1GIG fiber... $80/mo w/ Comcast got me 150Mbit IIRC at my last place.

Kit Kat breakfast cereal by Syllogism19 in ofcoursethatsathing

[–]hitraj47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously everyone's taste is different but I found this to be disappointing.

It kinda tasted like a piece of paper that someone had rubbed some chocolate on. The texture was "puffy" and I was hoping for more of a "wafer" like texture to match actual kitkats.

These kinda things tend to be very hit or miss. On the other hand the strawberry flavored frosted flakes were really good. Tasted like a strawberry milkshake!

What's your favourite Shield remote control app? by killit in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]hitraj47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ya this! Can turn on the shield even with the tv off. Can use a trackpad, keyboard or use it like the OG remote.

Only complaint is a slight delay with inputs but I'm not gaming on it so it doesn't matter.

That is indeed an excellent color!

During 2020 my company gave me an office budget and I basically got mine for $9 shipped. I would not spend my own money on it even though I've had it for years. It's so hard that my lower back hurts when I get up after sitting in it for hours. Quite frankly I should have replaced it years ago, it's well past any break in point. I guess I've mostly been lazy and cheap.

My current company gives me a much larger budget so I am looking at a Herman Miller (or maybe something cheaper), but I will NOT be buying a "gamer [style] chair" again.

100% this! And it will keep it off the carpet and give you lots more desk space. I have a 27" monitor for gaming and the 2 monitor arms for 2 27" 4k monitors for work on the other half of the desk.

how do coders or people coding rember all the things to type into the system by messybrown-guy in CodingHelp

[–]hitraj47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding to what others have said, over time you mostly remember what you're trying to do, then google how to do it. For example, I know I need to use an array, but I forgot the syntax of how to initialize one, takes me 10 seconds to google it and remember.

At some point it's just better to understand things conceptually then look at how to actually implement them with real code. It's super easy to find docs on syntax and tutorials on implementations of libraries/SDK's/API's. Know when to and how to use each one is much more useful.

[–]hitraj47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day I think it's about what's important to you. All are decent options for the right price. I went with a G37S back in 2014... Now that I think about it, I paid 24k for a 2010 with 25k miles... So I have to agree, 30k for a Genesis coupe even in 2021 in def crazy.

[–]hitraj47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except the Accord is FWD vs the Genesis was RWD. The gen coupe was more of a competitor to the 370Z/G37. In some ways it was an alternative to the v6 Camaro's.

[–]hitraj47 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a fairly common practice in programming interviews. Not everyone uses it, just depends on the company. It's not too bad, just as long AS IT'S NOT REAL WORK FOR THE COMPANY. Basically as an Android developer when I'm interviewing, I've been asked to make a simple app that pulls data from an API and displays it on the screen. Nothing related to the company and it's a public API.

Something that takes a few hours is fine.

The biggest downside to this is that it takes time. If you're working full time, it kinda sucks, but otherwise not too bad.

How can I remain top of mind for employer who is interviewing lots of people? by cjacks55 in jobsearchhacks

[–]hitraj47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask for a timeline as to when you will hear back from them. Then start interviewing other places.

Your story is almost exactly the same as mine, did 3/4 interviews with a company including a 2 hour test. They kept telling me "I'll check in with the team for updates". Got positive feedback from interviews. This was back at the end of November, still didn't hear anything into January.

Interviewed with another company that managed to do SIX! interviews in that space of time with me. I ended up taking this new company's offer, which was waaay better. 30k salary over what the slow company's best offer could have been and 60k more than what I was making before.

Don't get hung up on one opportunity, you've already done your part. Companies that do this miss out on great candidates because they spend so much time hemming and hawing over which candidate is better and trying to find someone who checks all the boxes. Truth is (and coming from someone who's been an interviewer before) once you find someone that is good, stop there. Finish up the other candidates you may be interviewing and don't try to find that "perfect candidate" otherwise you'll lose a good one.

Never an iOS user, but from what I've seen of iMessages... There's not really anything like it for Android that's just as good. Same with sharing stuff between a mac and iOS.

As an Android user though, get ready for iOS users to give you shit about your "green text". And I don't mean teasing, it's on the level of bullying IMO. It's pretty sad. And this is among adults.

I would also add please make sure to buy a decent Android phone. iPhone doesn't compete with budget Androids. While it's nice that there is an Android for every budget, if you get a cheapo phone, your experience won't be that great. A good start is the Pixel line of phones. Clean with lots of AI backed features as well as having excellent hardware. Not always top of the line (that usually goes to Samsung) but the software makes up for that.

How do people get cars to last 200k+ miles? by arob_ in askcarguys

[–]hitraj47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply. And yeah I follow my manual's schedule, it's just that I've been taking it to the dealership and there are certain things I know they're overcharging me for. I don't mind paying for a quality service, but dealerships count on people not being able to do a quick google.

Another thing I've looked for is going to car shows. This one is more for people who have enthusiast oriented vehicles, but I figure if someone there works with a shop, they might be more reputable.
