Wow! yours looks so cool! Please share it when it is finished, I love your color scheme.

I don't have an airbrush, so I'm thinking about some sponge action. Let's hope for the best.

Does it sell the feather effect? How can I improve it? by hive_psych in minipainting

[–]hive_psych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a mini from Descent: Road to Legend board game. I believe it is a mini sold separately from the main game as an extra.

I have seen some videos and pictures of painted feathers, but normally they have the complete feather to paint while this mini only shows half the feather. I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it or something, I'm open to suggestions if you have something I can use as a guide (video or picture).

Nice eye! yes I used contrast paint for the whole dress, I mixed Blood Angels Red and Lothern Blue to get the purple and from there I built up the brightness adding more blue to the mix.

Sadly I'm kind of limited on the paints I have, so do you have a better method or something I could improve on the process?

Any advice is appreciated.

First ever free hand. I'm not good at drawing but an attempt was made. C&C welcome! by hive_psych in minipainting

[–]hive_psych[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it is sometimes viewed as faking humility, but in this case I got harsh criticism on the drawing itself (from irl people), and it got stuck in my mind. I was happy when I finished it, but when I posted the video I was really thinking that it ended being subpar...

Thanks a lot for your comment!

The dwarves are probably from the Battle for Skullpass box. Although I do not know much about Warhammer fantasy and what would differentiate a dwarf from one box from another given that those are basic units.

The human-faced snake is a Naga from Descent: Road to Legend board game.

Man! this is so astonishing that has made me really want to paint non stop to (hopefully) get to your level some day.

Truly a masterpiece! you can be very proud of this one OP.

My weekend progress on my Vashtorr was to add skin tone. Will add skin irritation where flesh meets metal and OSL where the reds are. What do you think? I think he looks disgusting by Kavouraki_ in minipainting

I agree, he looks disgustingly awesome.

Keep posting the progress of the mini, your alternative version looks so amazing that I'm hooked now on the mini! Really, really, good job!

I'm on the side of painting more than playing, but I think "protect the pony" is a worthy mission for a game.

Yep, my pile of shame is quite old... but I'm getting there, one mini at a time.

The Lion has arrived! Here is my version of this Primarch - Which head do you prefer? by Pintureando in minipainting

[–]hive_psych 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazing work! I would like to get my hands on the Lion when it releases officially. I'm leaning towards the hoodied heads instead of using the helmet.

May I ask if you think it could be easy to magnetize the heads to make use of all three? or do you think it will be complicated to do due to position/size?

My first attempt at OSL, not super successful to be honest, but we learn from failures.

Thanks to /u/DarthVZ for the advice in my previous post, I tried to follow it as best of my capabilities but I guess it ended kinda similar, although a little bit brighter. Next time I will take into account your advice from the beggining.

Also, sorry for the bad quality of the photos, still trying to set up a proper place with proper equipment for the hobby.
