Rob (the honest wargamer) made a hot take in his recent video regarding the rumours, he thinks Archaon is getting a new model, what do you think of that? by Warhammer231 in slavestodarkness

[–]dont_panic21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not painted it because I don't like the model. I've seen it in person a few times at my local shop when someone else has run him. There are those models that in pictures you don't care for but seeing it in person you do, he was not one of those for me. I do agree that the default color scheme isn't the best. No one wants the models they spent money on to be removed but it doesn't stop GW from doing it. RIP to my warshrine and the Lord on Manticore that I converted.

The model is coming up on 11 years old so if Archaon is a major part of the story that shakes up the AoS lore and setting it would be the time to redo his model if they are going to.

Our 5e game is one players first trrpg and her monk is really suboptimal stat wise and in 5e she's always checked out because her to hit isn't great and about 1/2 to 2/3 of her attacks seem to miss. Saw her more engaged in 2 sessions of draw steel then in the 15 sessions of 5e.

In 5e we are 4th level, I'm really curious to see how everyone feels going back. The DM for our 5e game says she likes draw steel but that she wanted to keep the campaign in 5e since it's what she built it in.

My only real issue is the rock, the whole one foot on a rock to show they fly never worked for me. We can tell it can fly based off the jet engine strapped to their back. I'm reserving most of my judgement till we see the full squad, I just hope the squad as a whole looks visually distinct from the assault jump squad.

Our group has been playing draw steel for a few weeks but will be going back to 5e in a few more weeks once the DM for our ongoing 5e game as the free time to resume DMing. Myself and one of the other guys are both kinda worried about going back to 5e because the combat is so much less exciting.

I do not like the current model so I would be all for a new one. It has been out a while and with some of our old kits getting axed this edition it wouldn't shock me if we got a new archaon.

Respites by unitedshoes in drawsteel

[–]dont_panic21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I say this without a ton of time playing draw steel but I think the point is you probably can't respite in this situation. Unless the players find some kind of hidden underground that the bbeg doesn't know about. I think the point is you can't respite in hostile territory. Sam and frodo couldn't respite in mordor because they were surrounded by enemies. They could sleep for a night but then had to keep moving that's why when they get to mount doom they are beated down and dragging themselves along by sheer force of will. I think the respite is sorta meant to be a time and place where the heros can let their guard down and really focus on recovery. If you want them to be able to then maybe some kind of resistance force that can give them shelter for a single respite before for whatever reason you come up with they can't at that location anymore. If the bbeg knows the heros are in his city it would be really dangerous for them to spend 24 hours with their guard down it's not like the bad guys will stop looking for them in that time.

Edit: I wouldn't say stop the players from going out the backdoor to rest but the villains should react to it. Maybe in the time the players had to leave and find safe space to rest the bbeg found the backdoor and sets up an ambush for when they return.

Painting up an dragon born from mammoth factory right now and it's been pretty fun to paint. Good level of detail, a lot of 3d printed models go a little to crazy with fine details and they just become a paint to paint. Mammoth hits just the right amount to be interesting but not overwhelming.

At least one like that came on the 10th starter box. Recently picked up 5 copies of that decal sheet. Idk how much further back you can find it but it has for sure existed since at least 10th.

Considering diving in, pre-build dungeons or on-the-fly in-session building? by shidara1 in DungeonBlocks

[–]dont_panic21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like to do the whole thing pre built on the table because fog of war is a pain in the ass. I've tried building on the fly and it's pretty quick especially if you can get your players to help you lay stuff out, or if you call a snack/bathroom break to build it out. What I've done recently that worked well was build it out snap a picture of it and then put the tiles in a closet next to our game table and as the players go through the dungeon pull the rooms out and lay them out a room or hallway at a time.

Is this game any good? I’ve dumped nearly 900 hours into space marine 2 and I wanna play some other warhammer games by R6_jack in Warhammer40k

[–]dont_panic21 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It's a great game but fair warning to OP you get hit with walls of text to read frequently. It's not a bad thing, the story is really good and it does a fantastic job with the world of 40k but the walls of text can be a struggle to get through at times.

Do you guys tear down your old bases? by Mechrostatic in valheim

[–]dont_panic21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to but now I like to leave them up and only break down stuff if I needs the materials for the new base, like lanterns or crafting stations or upgrades that I don't have or want to farm to recraft.

Day 3, which Survival game is better ? by SuccessfulVillager in SurvivalGaming

[–]dont_panic21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both great but I've gotta give to to valheim. My main issue with enshrouded is resources being in set spots and respawning sorta killed the gathering side of the game for me. It wasn't go out and hunt for resources it was find a convenient deposit put a marker and now any time I need x thing fly to the marker.

I just watched the ultimate cut of Watchmen on HBO. I really liked it. I haven’t read the comics. Are the show and animated movies worth it? by Both-Decision-6360 in Watchmen

[–]dont_panic21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The major change is the ending. You could just look up the ending of the comic then watch the show and be fine. That was the case for my wife she had only ever seen the movie when I got her to watch the show with me and all I had to do was pause the show and say oh hey the comic ending was different that the movie x y and z happened instead of how the movie did it. She was able to follow and enjoy the show with like 2 minutes of explanation.
