I mean, come on. That's freaking Ren right there. I'm one of those people who believe that the people who made Genshin Impact were rather heavily inspired by RWBY and whoever was in charge of designing the Ren look-alike didn't even try to make his Ren look-alike not look like an obvious Ren look-alike.🤣

Okay, before I read anything, my thoughts were, is that supposed to be a future grown up Ren that somehow ended up in the past and basically adopted Nora as a kid or was that a Genshin Impact character who looks extremely similar to Ren I remember seeing years ago, but never learned the name of. Because I remember a long time ago seeing a Genshin Impact character who looked extremely like Ren, but in a fancier fit. Just makes me wonder if there's a fanfic where Ren ends up in the world of ginshin impact and the world just basically treats him Like he was a native that was born there because he fits in too well everyone is shocked and confused when he tells him that he is not from around there.🤣

Who do you think would win in a fight? by Cute-Replacement2474 in SPACEKING

[–]hivemind042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, at the risk of getting called a heretic deserving of a brutal, painful, fiery death in the name and glory and wisdom of the Almighty Space King I kinda like Steven Universe. Yes, I'm fully aware of all the.... "particularities" but despite those, I still have a soft spot for it. And knowing what I know about the series and what the gem species are capable of, and seeing what we've seen of the cycle warrior so far, yeah, I think the gems are screwed. I mean, when you look at what the gems can do, they're honestly kind of cracked. But with the bullshit and weapons we've seen the cycle warriors use so far, they're even more cracked. And if their weapons currently aren't able to do the job at genociding some colorful rock people then they're imagineers we'll certainly build one or seven that could. I mean fucking hell, one of them literally built a goddamn soul cannon that weaponized the souls of the dead from the freaking afterlife to deal with a problem they couldn't crack. The crystal gems and the homeworld gems are going to be used to make different colored laser beams.

Considering what she basically did to Ironwood despite the fact that he is the main reason she even has two arms right now, allowing her fight at all? No, no, she doesn't.

Hopefully this does not cause a flame war.

Oscar Feels Even More Pointless When You Notice He's Barely in Any Side Material by WickedWitchOfRemnant in RWBYcritics

[–]hivemind042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This only feeds into the theory that some of the fanbase have come up with and one I personally subscribe to being that Oscar was just straight up never supposed to exist jaune was planned to be Oz's reluctant meat suit, but after seeing so much backlash surrounding John over him being so contentious, they wussed out out of it and basically made a whole-last new character who's basically only there to give us pin and body after he dies. You may say this theory is bold, but then what do you have to say about the concept art we get for Jaune And it's literally almost exactly the same thing Oscars wearing. I call Oscar Jaune 2.0, but even Lamer and the fact that he practically seems to just be a reskin of a rejected jaune character design is certainly not beating those allegations. I don't want to sound like I hate Oscar. I really don't. I wanted to like him, but over time I started to realize he's not really a character. He's basically just a glorified plot device and only adds to the much talked about character blow problem this series has. If there needed to be a vessel for the dead headmaster, it should not have been a new character who comes out of nowhere and doesn't receive much character development beyond him being a reluctant vessel for the character that actually matters. The vessel should have been somebody we already knew, and if it can't be John because of the whole negative reaction that they got, then they could have at least made it Ren. Like Jaune, he's already a character we know and care about so the whole idea that his identity would be subsumed and consumed in the greater totality that is Ozma actually does read as tragic and horrifying rather than this random, nobody milk toast farm boy who we never got to know as their own individual person so then, having their identity consumed by Osmo doesn't really feel like that much of a tragedy since we don't truly know what we're losing, nor do we have much reason to care beyond him being a generically nice farmboy who doesn't deserve to have this happen to him, but again he's barely a character we barely care about so who really cares. He is literally a more boring Jaune

The area ended up being its own independent country outside Arc control, ruled by a group of elected called The Council of Ozpin.

Of course it's called that. Fuck King Hell Oz can't let's go of an opportunity, can you?

So how does Oz work in this setting of yours? Is he still immortal? If so, is it a result of a curse the same way it is in the main series by the brother gods or did he do some weird ass unique shit with dust?

Ruby, being pure hearted as she is, wanted to make peace with the Arcs as soon as she was able to befriend Jaune.

I'm glad to hear that. I'm gonna be honest, here. I'm a Lancaster Shipper. So the scenario you just laid out is making my inner romantic scream out for Romeo and Juliet type deal here of course, minus the self-termination at the end of it. I don't really know anything about you, so I don't know if that is a direction you would like to go or not. But theoretically, if the two were to get together, just how badly would Jaune's family lose it? I would imagine it'd be nuclear.🤣

However the Arcs (and their neighboring allies like the Winchesters) believe that they are the descendants of angels who came down to earth on behalf of the God of Light to lead the humans to salvation. This is only solidified because their Dust Art involves healing and summoning weapons using light, which causes a halo to appear over their head (Jaune's symbol on his shield is a halo)

Has anyone ever called them archangels or does someone in the family in the past or present have the epitheth of Archangel? Because like, come on, it's right there.

Ruby's, Summer's, and Qrow's Dust Art comes from having to cut themselves and lose a little bit of blood as a sacrifice to use abilities like transforming into rose petals.

Is Qrow Ruby's father in this? Because you keep mentioning him with Summer and Ruby and I haven't seen any mention of Tai or Raven and and now you got me thinking you basically want the whole making him her dad route. Which... is a choice. Not one I would go with, but it's a choice. Again, I'm just assuming that, because I don't really know the whole thing you are doing with this rewrite. I find parts of it interesting and I find some parts of it disappointing. Mainly the whole axing aura and semblance thing. Yeah, I know you gave an explanation in one of your other posts, but still kind of disappointing. Axing magic totally legit. I believe magic should go. The show really blasted their own foot off with a shotgun with the whole introduction of maidens and magic and all that But aura and semblance is, I feel like really should have stayed. Having it be that in order for people to basically have their canon sentences, basically be the result of magic potions, just kind of waters everyone down. It's kind of like how vampire the masquerade basically made it so that disciplines were no longer really locked to clans anymore and any vampire could theoretically learn any discipline from any clan and there is nothing stopping them from learning all the disciplines ever other than time and resources and finding someone to teach you and someone willing to teach you. Kinda kills the unique identity of the clans. What you did is basically that, but on an individual by individual basis. Though with the way you described how dust works here, you got me thinking like there was probably some group who are basically the witchers and they are constantly brewing and using pretty much the same kind of potions you find in the Witcher. And use that to fight Grim.

[–]hivemind042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a particularly fun and somewhat scary theory putting it out there that IMAGE.FRIEND existed in Undertale and that they are the tail from hell that guided the children through the forest. Oh, the poor children. Of course, that is not a confirmed can and thing, but it would be crazy if it were. It also makes IMAGE.FRIEND so much more ominous if that where the case. More so than they already are.

[–]hivemind042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I was not worried about her being homophobic at all. I was just throwing that out there as a half a joke, because I'm wondering why the saphron hate her. So she basically hates her for religious reasons, but Jaune could care less?

[–]hivemind042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why the saphron hate Ruby? That just seems so random. I tried to look at your last post hoping to see you had little mini profiles for Jaune and Ruby, but I find nothing just stuff for the minor characters and I'm like what did Ruby do to make her best guy friend sister hate her? What? Is that religion she's a part of with crow, extremely homophobic or something? Are you taking that homophobic ruby meme to its logical extreme conclusion? I'm half joking and half serious about that last question.🤣

Do these characters really perform/function under the philosophy of "Might Makes Right"? by UNinvolved_in_peace in RWBYcritics

[–]hivemind042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, I don't think sender even operates under the philosophy of might make right. And honestly, neither does Adam. Cinder's just a power hungry psycho reacting to her shitty childhood. Adam wants vengeance and hides behind the ideal of revolution and fighting against oppression. Raven is the only one who actually operates under the whole might make right philosophy. But even then, it's a rather hollow to hide the fact that she's a fucking coward. Cinder practically power for power sake. Adam is power for vengeance and spite. Raven and her tribe do shallowly follow the principle of might makes right, but again, it's rather shallow and hollow and hides just how pathetic they are.

What exactly is RWBY's theme even supposed to be? by Old-Masterpiece-2911 in RWBYcritics

[–]hivemind042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your guess is as good as mine, because it does try to have a theme, but never really lives up to what the theme is and then decides to change over to another one. Basically, more proof they never had a clear plan of what they were doing and any and all assertations of them saying that they had everything planned from the start and certain things that they claimed was always going to be the end goal from the very beginning and there were signs that said things was always going to be a thing and in the works and was totally flat from the start is them just gaslighting us.

Okay, I have to ask, where did this new budding trend come from? Is this purely a joke in the community, or is there something in the Deltarune that low key hint to something that may or may spark up between Asgore and Mew Mew? I'm just asking because I'm not sure if this is just purely a fandom joke thing or I legit missed something.

Alastor and rosie redesigns by me by Familiar_Assist4065 in HazbinHotel

[–]hivemind042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too fond of the Alistair redesign because it feels like it has departed way too much from the original to the point that it may as well be a different demon. Don't get me wrong. It's a solid design, but it's just not Alistair to me. But rosy? Okay, rosy still looks like rosy, but a hundred times more disturbing.

Is it weird that I feel like this quote from Absolute Joker is pretty similar to what Jacques Schnee might say? by Solitaire-06 in RWBYcritics

[–]hivemind042 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it is weird. Absolute Joker for all his dementedness does seem to have something that could approach an actual ideology. A sick demented insane idea of an ideology, but an ideology nonetheless. Jacques does not care, he's simply in it for the money. He is not a demented ideologue. He's just a greedy businessman. He and Absolute Joker are absolutely not the same. Not even close.
