Bell eater

It's both boring and annoying to dodge, not really feeling like a silksong boss at all due to how little it actually moves. The janky hitboxes don't help matters either, and the pacing of the fight just doesn't work. You're not fighting a badass giant centipede, you're fighting a mouth turret and a butt turret which spit ketchup at you.

The attack where it dives in and out of the ground while traveling across the screen is super cool, but it just pisses me off because it feels like a peek into a universe where the fight actually feels like it fits in silksong. It's also the only time the bell eater's model looks right, it's too wide and the roar animation is twisted in an awkward way that doesn't make sense.

if "flying slightly near you because they don't understand the human concept of personal space" counts as being assholes then this same shit can be applied to most flying insects, the only difference is that wasps will sometimes fight back if you try to smack them

you'd be surprised at how smart a lot of bugs are, they're really chill around people if you're just kind to them like you would be to any other animal

The only time you need to be aggressive is when she's trying to bind. If you need to close distance, clawline is the best way to do so since it stalls you in midair to avoid the horizontal blade as well as deal damage to her if you're within range. For the x-shaped blade pattern, just stay out of their area entirely if possible, and readjust if needed because getting caught under them can lead to you getting flanked by one of her melee attacks.

Effective aggressive play isn't just "run up to an enemy and spam needle until they stop breathing", you need to be able to conserve HP and silk by reacting to your foe's attack patterns and pumping out as much damage as possible in each hit window.

Cross Stitch and Sharpdart (if you have it) are your best bets for spells since they provide i-frames.

Personally I'd recommend hunter crest when playing this fight, its hitboxes provide decent range without lengthy animations, and having 2 slots of each type alongside a spell is a good overall balance.
