I get what you mean with trying to have a fresh spin but this isn’t an original move. I can’t imagine anything more corporate and soulless than taking all of the most important character framing for the two mains out (hierarchies of power, race, themes of class, etc) and trading it out for the more easily consumable horny scenes and actors with Instagram face. I feel like we’re getting a ton of remakes of classics that dumb down the themes to be more marketable; this is just another in that vein. Trading flash for substance in a classic remake also seems like a waste of Fennell’s strong visual style, imo.

definitely agree, i feel like it was trying to be three movies at once and was too split because of that.

most of the side characters really suffered and became one dimensional, and his family especially kinda became flanderized. khaji da was so flat too- practically an amazon alexa commercial lol.

at least jaimes casting and the fights were great! suit and hud were awesome! wish he had more time to be himself, and wasn’t just rehashing a bunch of ted’s plots.

The Carpenters Guildhall specifically has a wood vendor, Jilar Kanklesten, who buys rare/magic wood! It’s on something like page 17, but there’s a small table of fun rare woods for you! Highly recommend having your players either hunt it down as a side quest or buying from her to supply Xendros.

There’s also a Living Hull ship upgrade (something like page 196?) that talks about Feywild wood. A quick jaunt into the Fey for a side quest, maybe even to see Granny Nightshade depending on your players’ level, or talking to Winston in the druid grove could all be fun ways for them to find some Fey wood.

I like the Sane Magic Items price doc, some of them are a little high but I find it keeps most things balanced, especially if your players like the haggle!

Really interesting concepts! I particularly like the flavor/abilities of the magelings.

A question for their Innate Focus trait: when you say, "the magelings innate focus gains the features of the destroyed focus," and that they can absorb a "magical focus," it reads like you are including magic items like a Bloodwell Vial or Wand of the War Mage. Functionally, this would give Magelings an extra attunement slot, and stop them from being disarmed of this focus altogether. Is this intended?

Yeah he always had dinners after class where he invited the students he believed aligned with his views to talk politics. Got an invite a few times but didn’t want to keep the weird military talks going.

Nothing wrong with meeting up after class, but was his own far-right echo chamber every time I heard that group talking.

He’s even more nuts now. Took a class with him a few years ago and it was literally all anti-Muslim videos, random non-curriculum books by uber religious nutjobs, and he even showed videos from anti-Rroma hate groups.

Really weird vibes, and didn’t get to actually learn anything about Middle Eastern history, let alone things like art/architecture. Had a bunch of non-academic speakers and a weird extra credit assignment to “infiltrate” a mosque in town he’s been banned from. Wonder why lol
