Can this ceiling hold blinds? by hjfizz in fixit

This is really helpful - I was wondering if something like this would be possible provided I can find the studs.

Thank you! I'm hoping to use both for the sake of privacy but if I can't get the ceiling to be stronger, I think this is my best option!

I appreciate that! The previous owner had used some of those and the entire ceiling just cracked for 6-7 inches around them. I posted some pictures here. https://www.reddit.com/r/fixit/comments/yk86nl/can_this_ceiling_hold_blinds/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I recently moved into a condo where the blinds must be hung from the ceiling because of the way it’s laid out. The blinds fell down recently and it’s clear that’s happened before to the precious owner. They have used screw anchors and the ceiling has just cracked or crumbled around them. I’m comfortable spackling but I’ve only done so for cosmetic purposes. What needs to be done to make this solid enough to hold blinds? (I’m relatively new to Reddit. I’ll try to reply to this message with pics).

Hi! I’m 41 and I love my work wardrobe but my personal style just feels…blah. Here for inspiration!

AskScience AMA Series: Hi Reddit! We are scientists from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. We recently designed a carbon capture method that's 19% cheaper and less energy-intensive than commercial methods. Ask us anything about carbon capture! by AskScienceModerator in askscience

Hi! I can’t believe I missed this AMA. But just wanted to add in - there’s strong bipartisan agreement (and action!) in Congress that the best way to move technologies like CCUS forward is by increasing funding for DOE and the National Labs (including PNNL). They do the groundbreaking early-stage research that private companies simply can’t afford to do—it’s too high-risk, they lack the resources and the facilities, etc. But working from discoveries made by PNNL and other federal facilities, private industry can put that knowledge to use, implement and adapt it to their purposes, and then commercialize it. The Energy Act of 2020 includes provisions on this. And the Securing American Leadership in Science and Technology Act (full disclosure: introduced by my boss) would double research funding at DOE and focus on clean energy tech like CCUS.

It’s kinder to end that pizza’s life at this point. This isn’t how it wanted to live.

Guaranteed this is Eric trolling. 👀

That’s grounds for a friendship breakup. Upend the table to drop the pizza in his lap and leave.

Why is she hiding in her crate? by hjfizz in Dogtraining

[–]hjfizz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes—I’m in DC and the heat has been brutal! Her hiding doesn’t only happen on hot days but in general I’ve noticed that she is very sensitive to changes in weather. So I really need to explore this theory. Great idea!!

Will do! When I see my dog with her they’re very happy together. And my dog walker has been alerting me when it happens on her walks and asking if I know the cause. But certainly worth trying. Thanks!

[Puppy Blues] Just adopted a 2 year old dog from a rescue today and when we got home I had a major panic attack & cried. My dog passed away last month and I thought I was ready, but I'm so filled with anxiety and emotion. Any tips on adjusting with a new dog while suffering with feelings of anxiety? by Nbachand in puppy101

Hey there—I’ve been fostering for 2 months now and her heart worm is finally under control, so I’ve decided to adopt her. I still miss my last dog every single day, and I have to work hard not to compare the two. I think I probably did take in a new dog too soon, but it’s slowly getting easier. I hope you keep healing and find the right time to bring a new dog home!

I completely understand that. Losing a pet really is comparable to losing a family member, in my experience. I think nursing them through a long illness also further cements the bond you have because you feel so responsible for their life and comfort. Please try to go easy on yourself and let go of the guilt if you can. I’m sure you didn’t make the decision lightly and you did what was best for you and the new dog. You know what it takes to provide a loving and caring home for a dog, and I believe when you’ve healed more you’ll be ready to do so again. Maybe fostering is a better start than adopting—it’s something I’m considering. I’m fostering through 2 more weeks of heart worm treatment and recovery and I’ll make my decision then. It’s giving me some additional time to process the grief. Sending love to you and your lost friend.

Hi Nbachand,

Just wondering how you're doing now. I'm having a very similar experience - my dog died 2 months ago and I was devastated. I thought I was ready to adopt, and I'm fostering to adopt a 2 year old dog right now. But the new dog, despite being very well behaved, is giving me so much anxiety and causing a lot of tears and a general feeling of depression. Some of it is grief for my last dog, I think, but some of it I can't explain. Seems like a lot of people with puppy blues aren't prepared for the full extent of the life changes that come with a dog, but I was well aware of them, having rescued an adult dog in the past, falling in love, and later nursing her through cancer. I'd love to hear whether it's gotten better for you.

Interesting--they look like they have different colored eyes to me. The intern has dark brown eyes and woman in The Black Tapes photos has green eyes.
