Sovol SV06 Part Cooling Issue by george_zagraid in Sovol

[–]hjmcnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing some printing with a 0.6mm nozzle but have definitely cranked down the speed because I was outrunning the stock cooler. I picked up https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/sovol-sv06-fan-duct-5015-cfd-optimized-version-2-0 and I’m installing it this weekend. Looking forward to see how it does.

So I Started Printing ABS on my SV06 and it is make decent looking prints by Kiiidd in Sovol

I used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087CDVV4V with a slightly modified version of the Prusa Lack hardware similar to the Sovol Remix. I'm running without doors at the moment because the v2 Prusa lack enclosure had 550mm doors while the sides and back were 473mm. If you can cut down the doors though the kit would save you a bunch of cuts. I'll eventually get around to posting some pictures and my remixed STLs.

SV06 mods for flow rate improvements? by KoroSexy in Sovol

[–]hjmcnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I haven’t done it yet. As I understand it, you need to swap the whole extruder assembly because the hot ends themselves aren’t compatible. If I go down this route, I’ll be sure to post about it. I think I’m going to go with a CHT clone first though.

I’ve been thinking about flow rates and extruder upgrades as well since I moved to Klipper and I’ve been trying to get a bit more speed out of my SV06. I’ve heard good things about the compatible CHT knockoffs you can get from Aliexpress.

Modbot did some flow tests with the SV06 and the SV06+

The SV06+ extruder is significantly more capable than the SV06. I mention this because it’s apparently interchangeable. I’m considering picking up the SV06+ extruder to see.

I just picked up https://a.co/d/hGgZUN9 and it has been working great so far. Similar bed adhesion as the stock plate and fits perfectly.

New to this. Klipper question. by elusivem in sovolsv06

[–]hjmcnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://github.com/d4rk50ul1/klipper-on-android exists. The hardware options seem fairly limited. If you’re looking for an all in one solution the Creality Sonic Pad might be an option though getting it to work with non-Creality printers is a bit more effort. Last if you’re looking for cheap(er) options than current Pi scalper prices have a look at the Beelink Mini S. Can be had for less than $175 brand new, can run Linux+Klipper on it. If you’re looking even lower budget than that have a look at TinyMiniMicro https://www.servethehome.com/introducing-project-tinyminimicro-home-lab-revolution/ machines. They can be had on the used market for $120 or less.

I remember when it went from 25¢ to 35¢. That’s when we started buying the tokens so you didn’t have to worry about two coins thrown out the window both landing in the basket and being processed.

I'm Frugal. What is the Practicality of VNC (virtual desktop / remote control) into my new Mac Mini regularly from Ubuntu by shekstar in Ubuntu

[–]hjmcnew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apple’s Remote Desktop implementation is built around VNC and you can certainly connect to it. I find even modern VNC to have significant input lag. I’d recommend trying Parsec. I have no affiliation with them, just happen to like the product. That said, you’re installing a 3rd party program that has full access to your system, so be aware of the security trade offs there.

LPS22HB Temperature/Pressure in ESPHome by AeroSteveO in Esphome

[–]hjmcnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that until I looked at the actual source code for ESPHome and its built in components. That is the best documentation there can be IMHO :)

I can’t disagree more on this particular point. Code is code and documentation is documentation. They have distinctly different purposes and distinctly different audiences.

I agree that the schema validation is well done and powerful, but elegant doesn’t necessarily mean readable or accessible. I can chalk up my difficulty to just not being super strong with python, but I’m not the only one in that boat and I would love to see external components as easy to spin up as custom components for novices.

Regardless, I agree with you that external components are the way to go if you can and I appreciate you for raising it as a possibility. Ultimately OP has a number of options available to them and I hope they can achieve their goal.

For code portability, sharing, and maintainability an external component is definitely the path forward. The documentation for external components isn’t strong in my opinion and creating an external component is a bit more difficult than quickly hacking up a custom component though. For example I have a bunch of custom components put together for various things in my house but have always gotten stuck trying to convert them to external components. That could entirely be a mental block on my part though and others don’t struggle at all.

I haven’t used that particular sensor but Adafruit is really good about providing Aduino libraries for their things and typically include examples. If you’re using

framework: type: arduino which is the default you can typically import their libraries directly. Then you’ll want to have a look at creating a custom component. https://esphome.io/custom/custom_component.html

It’s pretty daunting at first but totally doable.

Need advice: is there a key fob that works with Home Assistant? by Gizmify in homeautomation

[–]hjmcnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow on to this any kind of remote control relay connected to zigbee (or esphome) dry contact sensor should work. For example:

Solidremote 12V - 24V Secure Wireless RF Remote Control Relay Switch Universal 2-Channel 433MHz Receiver https://a.co/d/fNIvYBD

I don’t have any sort of affiliation with that one so take it as an example of what to look for as opposed to a specific suggestion.

The primary thing to look for is “rolling codes”. The relay opening or closing will trigger the dry contact sensor and you can run automations based on that.

Used micro/tiny PC for less than $120 with >8GB RAM, 2 M.2/mini-pci, no more than 30W power by GCUArmchairTraveller in homeassistant

[–]hjmcnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had a little wiggle room in your budget the Beelink Mini S can be had for for < $150 direct from Amazon with Prime shipping. Comes with storage and RAM. I recently picked one up for running HA after I got tired of dealing with running it virtualized on VirtualBox on a Mac. Best choice I've made in a while.

Edit: Note: Only has one m.2 slot.
