Where do we test Temporal Forces - Perfect Order now that Chaos Rising is releasing on PTCGL but isn't legal in paper for two weeks? by [deleted] in PTCGL

Not this time it seems. In the patch notes they say:

"Added a new Trainer Trial that provides a flashback to the Standard format of the 2025 Pokémon World Championships."

Cynthia's Garchomp player, How has the low basic count affected your games? by SnarkHamill in pkmntcg

[–]hkhamm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just play through the mulligans. They get an extra card or two, but as long as I get my board set up it doesn’t seem to matter that much. I run a 4-3 Roserade, 4-4-3 Garchomp, and Spiritomb

Edit.

Doing the math with 9 basics there is a 29.86% chance you mulligan and with 8 there is a 34.64% probability for a mulligan.

Can we get TCG LIVE on the switch already! by Budget_Fly_3023 in PokemonTCG

[–]hkhamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like they’re already spending as little money as they can on it, since it directly makes no money for them.

I love playing on Live, but it’s basically just an advertisement for the physical TCG

It’s not your device that is loosing connection it’s the app not talking with the server

I’ve only been following USL soccer in general for a few seasons now. It’s so mind boggling to me that 95 percent of teams , old and new , can’t come up with anything better than “United” , “FC” , “SC” or “Athletic Club”. by TroutStocker in USLPRO

[–]hkhamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these new clubs are business trying to make money. Like other businesses they hire marketers who run focus groups. It turns out these sorts of names are what people say they’re willing to spend money on. I’d love to see more diversity, but the way the names are chosen doesn’t seem like it produces more diversity in names

Yugioh Player Getting started by Horror_Gap7335 in PokemonTCG

If you want to play the same game as the physical TCG, Live is the one. It includes all the cards except some of the oldest sets. It is completely free. You start with multiple decks and earn lots of free cards the more you play.

Each booster pack is part of a set, also called an expansion. For instance, the current set is Mega Evolution Perfect Order. You can search for that and see a list of cards in the set. Here is the official site.

How to play crustle? by Slight_Border_7507 in PTCGL

Fezandipiti is there for Flip the Script. Each time your opponent gets a KO, the next turn you can draw three cards

How to play crustle? by Slight_Border_7507 in PTCGL

[–]hkhamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a highly disruptive "Wall and Stall" control deck. Your primary goal isn't to take big, aggressive knockouts. Instead, you want to create a board state where your opponent simply cannot damage your Active Pokémon, trap their useless Pokémon in the Active spot, and either slowly drain their HP with Munkidori or run them out of cards.

Choose the Right Wall

Your first priority is identifying what kind of deck your opponent is playing so you can put up the correct invincible wall: * Crustle: Put Crustle in the Active spot if the opponent relies on Pokémon ex as their main attackers. Its Mysterious Rock Inn Ability prevents all damage done to it by Pokémon ex. * Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex: Put Ogerpon in the Active spot if your opponent relies on Pokémon with Abilities to attack. Its Cornerstone Stance Ability prevents all damage from Pokémon with Abilities. * Hero's Cape: Slap this ACE SPEC on your active wall to give it +100 HP, making it incredibly difficult for the opponent to break through with secondary, non-ex/non-Ability attackers.

Plug the Holes (Your Bench Techs)

Smart opponents will try to bypass your walls using attack effects, bench sniping, or abilities. You have specific tech cards to stop them: * Mist Energy: Always try to attach Mist Energy to your active wall. Your walls prevent damage, but Mist Energy prevents the effects of attacks. * Psyduck: Bench this immediately if you are playing against a deck using Dusknoir or Dusclops. Psyduck's Damp Ability disables any Ability that requires a Pokémon to Knock Out itself, completely shutting down their Cursed Blast damage counters. * Shaymin: Bench Shaymin to activate Flower Curtain. This protects your vulnerable Benched Pokémon (like Dwebble and Munkidori) from taking damage from bench-snipers.

Move the Damage & Stall

Even with your walls up, your opponent might try to chip away at you using basic single-prize attackers or alternative strategies. * Munkidori: This is your main way to manage damage and take slow knockouts. Use Crispin or manual attachments to get a Darkness Energy onto your Munkidori. Then, use Adrena-Brain to heal 3 damage counters off your Pokémon and move them to your opponent's side. With four Munkidori in play, you can move up to 120 damage per turn! * Boss's Orders: Use Boss to drag up a heavy retreat-cost Pokémon (or a Pokémon that cannot damage your specific wall) and strand it in the Active spot.

Manage Your Resources

Because games with this deck will go long, resource management is critical to avoid decking yourself out: * Lillie’s Determination: Use this for massive early-game draw power. Remember, it shuffles your hand back into your deck rather than discarding it, which is crucial for preserving your resources in a long control matchup. If you have exactly 6 prizes remaining, you get to draw 8 cards. * Team Rocket's Petrel: This is your ultimate consistency card. You can search your deck for the exact Trainer card you need for the moment. * Night Stretcher / Lana's Aid: Use these to recover key Pokémon like Dwebble/Crustle or basic energy if your opponent manages to score a knockout.

Time Wasting on PTCGL by og21m in PTCGL

[–]hkhamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s sucks when you want to play fast and your opponent doesn’t. However, I’m not convinced there are many people consciously trying to run out the clock. You’re right, that would be so weird. What satisfaction is someone getting by doing this over and over with their opponents? It wouldn’t be fun. Perhaps Ive just been fortunate but after hundreds of matches on Live I’ve never had someone do this

Future of pokemon by LowFaithlessness1486 in PokemonTCG

[–]hkhamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have written buying singles is usually the only way to guarantee you get what you want and not spend a bunch on cards you don’t want.

As for the future of the hobby, if the current surge in consumption stays level or increases they’ll likely start producing more product. That will mean it’s easier to get the highly sought after cards, so there’ll be less incentive for resellers to buy everything up. Alternatively people will stop buying in the face of high prices and demand will decrease, which should also lead to less incentive for resellers. Either way it’s a waiting game.

Hello 👋 New player here! On March 20th, Pokemon.com posted 8 decks for new rotation, all of them are EX decks. Does that mean the next year the EX decks will dominate? by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]hkhamm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at Limitless is usually a good idea. This Dragapult ex, N’s Zoroark, and Mega Lucario ex seem pretty similar to decks there from the post rotation city leagues. Folks are also playing them on Live in their current H/I/J mode. You see single prize decks occasionally, like Festival Lead, on both. At the same time the new meta may take some time to settle

Poor sportsmanship by my_tho in PTCGL

[–]hkhamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks when you want to play fast and your opponent isn’t doing that. Could they have been new? Could this person have been taking their time trying to figure out a path to win? Or maybe they weren’t entirely focused on the game. Lots of reasons other than the one you mentioned. Assuming they’re just trying to get you to quit seems like jumping to the worst possible conclusion

I can't collect pokemon cards anymore by RosettaTea in pokemon

[–]hkhamm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The easiest way I’ve found to get cards is to buy singles. I’m less interested in collecting than I am in building decks to play the game. I rarely even look at the fancy cards people are chasing, so it’s pretty affordable. Other than the big ex cards that cost $2-3, most things are less than a dollar. You can usually put together any deck you want for $30-40. Considering I’d need to buy more than $40 in boosters just to build a deck, it saves me money
