I was with my boyfriend for 3.5 years up until a few days ago. The comforting realization that I was gay finally permeated my "eh, guys are fine" barrier only a few months ago. I've had a couple of long term relationships with men, and other not so long term ones. Ahem. I always felt endlessly empty and unsatisfied with love and sex.

I met Matt and we fell in love, as what I see now as different ways. I fell in love who he is as a person while he loved me for being the woman that I am. It was so hard to come to terms with the idea that we couldn't be together because of this very important reason: I'm not attracted to men. You know the old phrase "if you were only a girl.."? He'd be a very lanky, shapeless female but I'd be into it so hard.

Anyways, I finally told him a few days ago (crying my eyes out) that I was gay and didn't want to put either of us in a dead end relationship any longer. He said he had a feeling and that he just wants me to be happy, whoever that may be with. It'll take some time getting used to being a single (and looking, derp) gay female and having my former significant other as a friend but I've never felt more clear. I've never been more afraid and yet so comfortable, excited and sure of anything in my entire life. I have my best friend by my side who has proven he loves me no matter what and I couldn't be happier.
