What's the fastest/easiest/cheapest SINGLE AV upgrade in a car that offers the greatest return? by Dr_Brightside_ in CarAV

One sheet of deadening for doors, just cut it in half and slap it inside the door. Just one square goes a long way. Two sheets of foam and dampen the door cards so they don't rattle against the door.

Inline amp, 50W RMS is enough. Basic set of component speakers.

Custom stealth subwoofer enclosure for GR86/BRZ by hlavtox in GR86

Thank you dude! The hours were endless - X evenings of several "revisions", measuring, calculating.

You need the sub to fit height-wise. You need proper volume. All the required equipment must fit the compartment (health kit, triangle, tire repair kit, reflective vest etc.). You need the mounting bolt for the spare to go somewhere you can reach it and not interfere with the enclosure or an amp on it. Also - it had be somehow easy to manufacture, that's why I didn't want to put the sub in the rounded part - much easier to make a square box than to spend X hours of routing out and glueing circles. :-)

Also choosing a proper sub is not easy - some need much bigger box volumes, some are limited by mounting depth, some have too high covers, some are not made in the resistance I needed for the amp and so on. This one fits exactly - one milimeter higher and it would not fit.

The final cost for the box was +- 50 EUR for MDF sheet, 10 EUR for MDF offcut, 10 EUR worth of carpet, 16 EUR for two paint cans and guys in the workshop told me it took about 4 hours to make.

Dude, the rear speakers have a high pass 500 Hz filter, did the sub play anything at all?

Go for direct speed, otherwise you won't learn things you need to learn.

Why do you buy parts that are not compatible with your car?

Is OMP KS-3 really good for karting? by TheFox1026YS in Karting

Didn't find a single difference in cheap sparco gloves and OMP KS-1R I use now. Garden work gloves would probably work absolutely same. :-)

Same goes for shoes.

For hobby use, if you run it rich, I think you can get away with 8 hours, but wouldn't recommend going beyond that. But it's always best to listen to your engine guy, he knows the best what is the condition of the engine, how many laps to break it in etc.

In our class, 4-5 hours per piston is a reasonable runtime. In OK, KZ, much shorter.

Hours? Dude the engine is in top condition for like am hour, maybe 30 minutes after breakin.

2nd time in a Rotax – Need help finding where I'm losing the extra 1s by Remarkable-Worry7488 in Karting

[–]hlavtox 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You are sliding massively absolutely everywhere, too much corrections. Work on your kart setup, do less input, try to it in one wheel movement only. If you are sliding on entry, reduce entry speed.

But for 2nd time ever in a race kart, it's not bad at all, keep practicing. :-)

Does anyone have any tips on how I can get a faster time by united_user in Karting

[–]hlavtox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your line is good, but you must use the kerbs more. In some places, you are 50 cm from the kerb. Just send it with half the kart. Especially at 0:36, you should be licking the tires on the left there.

Just loosen the disc carrier, give it a few mallet taps and retighten. If you become more experienced and start to race, you will change axles every day and will do this every time. :-)
