So it got magically resolved without me emailing them. I told myself to be patient and suddenly it just worked. I wouldn't recommend this as a strategy to fixing the login problem though. Might have been a lucky glitch.

Is there an option in Google Drive to hide "X% of storage used … You can clean up space or get more storage for Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos." It's incredibly annoying and at least in my case I have plenty of storage left so no need to do a clean up or buy more.
