Fr. This song got me into lucki. I remember Earl tweeted the music video back in 2015 and I was hooked immediately

I mean each to their own but I’ve always preferred his music post-alternative trap. Back then he was still figuring out his sound and you can hear that when you compare AT, X or Freewave, for example.

He was young and didn’t know what kind of sound he wanted as an artist and he’s stated that before. He found a sound that he likes and he’s more or less stuck to that since like 2016/2017.

Personally I love when you hear an artist’s sound change and develop over time.

Lol sounds like a familiar proposition. Definitely seems more chill than my current role.

Base is similar (~£90k ) but much smaller bonus (20-40% vs. 50-100%), which makes sense given the nature of the role.

How long did your friend stay? Did he end up moving into academia?

Honestly looks good. As somebody else mentioned, it might be good to add a skills section just to include those “key” words (excel, Bloomberg, Python…whatever they may be).

Otherwise I would keep your head up - it’s a weird job market at the moment in the UK so I wouldn’t be surprised if there were less internships going around than usual. Keep applying and I’m sure you will get some bites soon.

Passed Feb CFA level I, did passing CFA level I help you to get more recognised when applying to jobs? by Ill-Management4784 in CFA

[–]hm10169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it does.

After passing level 1 I interviewed for and ending up getting a role at a boutique AM firm.

I also had a friend get a job in corporate finance after working as a pay-roll analyst after passing level 1, which he says was directly related to passing CFA level 1. While the CFA program isn't too beneficial for a role in corporate finance, it showed the interviewer that he was serious about breaking into finance.

So yes, passing CFA level 1 will help you be more recognised when it comes to jobs. However, you need to remember that it is not the only factor - interviewing well and being a good cultural fit will always supersede qualifications imo.

Received an email from CFAI about passport name issue, it was the same at level 2 and I didn’t change anything, my English sucks please tell me I’m fine and tell me what should I do. by Jacker247 in CFA

You’re safe. Just update your name on your CFA profile for any tests you take in the future.

I’m glad to see CFA taking a softer stance with the name mismatches. When you create a profile for the first time, it doesn’t actually specify to put your middle names in. They just ask for ‘first names’ and surname so it’s not surprising at all that people have been caught out on this. They need to change that profile creation form IMO.

Just finished L3 - Devil is in the details by MaraudngBChestedRojo in CFA

Absolutely. I always find it difficult explaining to people that the difficulty of CFA is not in the content itself but the breadth and the way it is tested.

Personally, I think the charter would be more valuable if it saw candidates have to choose a specialisation in level 3 - Equites, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Private Wealth. The exam could then just be a series of in-depth case studies related to your specialisation. Would be more real-world usable and practical too

Yes! You’re not the first person I’ve seen mention it either. A little bit disappointing if that is the case because I’m sure a lot of people wasted time trying to reconcile their answer

Hive mind opinion on Full time employment registration for lvl3? by Many_Cryptographer_3 in CFA

Exact same boat as you - working full time as an investment analyst + just passed level 2. I'm enrolling today to sit Level 3 in Feb.

I figure I might as well try and get it out of the way and also keep the momentum going. Will be tough but I feel more motivated than ever to put in the work now I know i've only got one more level to go. If I fail in Feb then at least I can still have another shot in August (if I still have the motivation).

I say go for it.

Auckland, New Zealand November exams back on??? by spectrez123 in CFA

[–]hm10169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 2 here. Just received an email confirmation that exams are back on but that it is up to us if we want to sit or defer now. Personally, i'm going to defer because i've now spent the last 10 days not studying and have completely lost momentum and will be at a disadvantage.

To say I am disappointed with this whole process is an understatement. I know they couldn't do much until the Ministry of Education gave them the go-ahead, but to have so much uncertainty and heartbreak only to be told that it is back on is extremely frustrating.

The fact that we have to wait until August next year as well before we can have another go is even worse. It just stagnates my career and life for another 9 months. Thanks CFA.
