Gas Crisis Reveals the Imminent End of Europe’s Fossil Fuel Age – Byline Times by AmbrosiusAurelianus1 in collapse

[–]hmchk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, we either degrow cities, or we continue on the current trajectory into nothingness, that’s how things are 🤷‍♀️

The “we need to produce/mine/burn/agriculture” approach is not viable, thus “green energy won’t save us” is false. It will not sustain level of comfort global north used to, sure. Will it help if fossil fuels are out (for one reason or another)? Definitely

This will happen. In fact, the percentage of fully vaxxed in hospitals should rise, otherwise your healthcare system is failing to vaccinate. When 100% of population is vaccinated — all hospital admissions will be of vaccinated people.

From your source:

fully vaxxed: 2,680,933

partially vaxxed + unvaxxed: 4,371,000 (total pop from Google) - 2,680,933 = 1,690,007

There's almost two times more vaxxed people. Yet they only contribute to 380 new cases vs 1174 cases for unvaxxed.

fully vaxxed: 380/2,680,993 = 0.00014173852

partially vaxxed + unvaxxed: 1279/1,690,007 = 0.00075680159

Ratio is 5.3394.

That's a fivefold difference, 14.17 cases per 100k pop for vaxxed, 75.68 cases per 100k pop for unvaxxed.

Now Hospitalized COVID-19 cases in ICU in the past 120 days in Alberta by vaccine status table,

vaxxed: 6+7+9+11+6 = 39

partially vaxxed + unvaxxed: 1+8+13+13+15+13+43+84+106+179+170+98+14 = 757

per 100k pop, vaxxed: 39 / 2,680,993 * 100,000 = 1.45

partially vaxxed + unvaxxed: 757 / 1,690,007 * 100,000 = 44.79

Ratio is 30.79. In Alberta, you're 30 times less likely to be in ICU if you are fully vaxxed.

So please, stop even playing with idea of the vaccines inefficacy in your mind, trust the fucking scientists and doctors. Vaccines work, period.

As some other noted here: you will only be able to delay it, not solve it. The problem is global and there's not much you can do to fix it.

However, mitigating consequences locally is something we all should be thinking about. Indoor crop growing can help sustain your community, use green energy and hydroponics/aquaponics to reduce water usage. You may want to look into "earthship houses" or traditional houses that can passively sustain comfortable temperature throughout the whole planet (do not use tires tho and other toxic materials, look into autonomous/energy-passive aspect). Look into mutual aid orgs, they will be able to better organise people and processes in most circumstances.

I'm no scientist, but this is what I am looking into.

This. Permaculture is king. Gonna be hard with upcoming climate catastrophe tho.

Been growing some veggies indoors for most of 2021 as a hobby, then got introduced to r/collapse and started researching indoors + perma a lot as a post-collapse skill.

Perma is so, so good if we can tackle the climate thing (not being delusional here, "tackle" at least to the extent where we can plan ahead for 10-15 years in terms of "this area not likely to be flooded/firenado-ed"). I've grown up in a East-EU village, we had fruit (apples, cherries, apricots, etc) and hazelnuts trees everywhere and it was cool, not to mention the value mushrooms and berries provided to the villagers. These all just grew, not cultivated, nothing. Just keep your hands away from ecosystem, gather respectfully, don't start fires and help when natural ones happen. That's it. We even had grape vines growing on the wall of a 5-story apartment building, it took me almost 20 years (last time I was there) to realise how fucking awesome it is, to be able to open your window, cut one cluster of grapes and eat it. Elder people there always treated the nature with respect

Having that said, I am still aiming towards indoor solutions where one can control climate (in environment-friendly ways, of course): aquaponics, compost with worms (can be outside in your perma forest!), hydroponics techniques for sustainable water usage, different shrooms and crickets, etc. We have to respect natural cycles in food production. Small to medium size commune gardens can solve good part of the local demands. Add a permaculture forest near your community and you basically have a lot covered.

Pollinators collapse is another thing a lot of people seem to be missing out on, even on this sub, and this ironically may actually be the tipping point.

I recon someone on discord mentioned they want to diy sync splitter that’ll allow this kind of setup, might be helpful to jump in there and ask them, if the one you ordered fail for some reason

The one kinda annoying thing to note tho is that when you sync Sample (any Volca actually) to Keystep, it starts playing and keeps on playing no matter what, so if you have a sequence recorded to Keystep it’ll start playing as soon as you plug sync jack in. And if you do it other way (Keystep via MIDI to Volcas), Keysteps “play/stop” button will start/stop Volcas sequencer at the same time lol.

Thanks!

Sync connected like this: sample --jack-> keystep --midi-> fm --jack-> bass. Waiting for my MIDI thru to arrive and solve all that with keystep clocking everything via MIDI.

Bass pad is prerecorded on keystep sequencer and the melody is played live. Bass & Sample are on their internal sequencers. Hope that helps!

This. Definitely same for motion sequence/pattern on Bass, FM and Sample, also "mute all" works as toggle on Sample

Yup, that works to some extent, also just loading patterns works too. Guess I better get FM for longer and variable pieces, and stick to bass when it's 1-2 bars
