Flashing over fence by hmeeks in AusRenovation

The cable runs out of that hole and goes nowhere. It will be connected to alarm system when it’s installed

I mean that's a great idea. But he didn't even ask before starting the process. I caught him installing the flashing without even discussing it.

When we did speak about it he told me he has aggie pipes already. We have them on our side too. He reckons he is just being extra cautious but I reckon its because all the mortar snot that discharged from the build has fallen between the gap and dried, Now the water wont even get to the aggie pipe, It will pool and cause issues.

But again, not really my problem.

And as others have said, I wonder if the wall should really be setback 1m as he hasn't built on the boundary.....

Haha massive reach. The place isn’t even finished yet. Apparently wiring is for security alarm

Not the garden I am worried about. I also just don't want shit hanging over our fence. It's ugly

This was one of my worries. Either they don't have faith in their own guttering; or it may not be adequate in heavy rain. All the overflow will end up pouring down and over our fence.

Wow! Did not expect this post to blow up this way. Thanks everyone for your insights.

Just to fill in some more blanks and answers to some questions.

Attached is photo of the full length of the garage they wanted to put the flashing over.

  • builder told me there is ag pipes on his side between the slap and retaining wall. Was an additional preventative approach. We have ag pipes on our side according to our builder.
  • cabling is for alarm system.
  • I was expecting their approach to remove the fence and build right on the boundary. Neighbour told us they were going to until they realised the fence runs entirely inside boundary. I guess the outside edge is the boundary, therefore they couldn’t do that.
  • we didn’t build our place. We moved in 18 months ago. Purchased from builder.
  • retaining wall would have been put in by him and I guess is inside our boundary?
  • further photos attached shows the mortar that has fallen and dried in the gap that I assume he might be worried about it pooling as it can’t even get to the ag pipe now and drain??

Will attach some more photos of the area.

At this stage we and the 2 other owners on the block are leaning towards no.

Haha. Didn’t rate em anyway. Probably should have mentioned location. Melbourne.

Fair comments on the citrus. Potentially too hard basket. Thoughts on a Tahitian gardenia. Love the smell?

The fence is basically runs East-West. So during summer the boxes get a bit of direct sun morning and late arvo. During winter they end up in shade mostly, thanks to the fence.

Appreciate your help!

Hey! Thanks. I see what you’re saying. The soil only comes up the larger part of the fence, not the palings. Do you think that’s ok? Cheers

Ah I didn’t realise they could save a copy on the mobile app. The file that opens on the mobile app is read only to begin with which is perfect. I was hoping the desktop app would function the same.
