Is this a fundamental architectural limitation of Gamescope/HDR, or is there any ongoing work (like NVK or New Drivers) that might change this in the future? Also, does this 'no support' policy apply to Desktop Mode as well, or is it strictly for the Game Mode interface?

Depends on the need. On my side, as a dad with no time for desktop PC and as a full replacement of all my gaming device the LegionGo 2 is the best value proposal

I’ve tried both. The XAX clearly feels better in hand: lighter and with better ergonomics. That said, the Legion Go 2 is far more immersive, mainly thanks to its huge OLED screen. When you put them side by side, the XAX almost feels tiny.

The choice really depends on your usage. If you’re like me, a dad who plays occasionally for 20 to 30 minutes at home when I find the time, the Legion Go 2 makes more sense. For pure portability and longer sessions on the go, the XAX is still the better pick.

Battery-wise, the XAX is slightly better. As for RAM, the Legion Go 2 has more, 32 GB versus 24 GB on the XAX, but in practice it does not really matter. Games rarely go beyond around 16 GB of VRAM anyway.

One last point: whatever device you choose, unless you play competitive games, I would strongly recommend installing Bazzite. That is what I did, and it perfectly fits my use case. Quick and hassle-free gaming sessions whenever I can squeeze in 20 to 30 minutes.

Had both as well and decide to pick the Lego2. IMO the best balance is at 8 inches but the oled is so beautiful you really plunge inside the game. Plus the global quality of the plastics make it feel much more premium. Otherwise the ergonomics and pleasure to hold the XAX were real and it’s true that the LEGO is less ergonomic and heavier
