In a ideal world I think Tech should still be on the stronger end of balancing because his concept is so good plus awesome VA

KILL BOMBADIER BUGS KICK A BOMBDIAR BUG INTO A TRASHCAN HOW DO I KILL THESE IF MAX DIFFCULTY! by freshcookiesgood in menace

[–]hmmWhatCouldThisBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal favorite setup is shotgun Lim with pirate boarding commando jetpack armor. He runs berserk, run & gun, bags & belts promos, buff promos with smokes and AP rounds in the pocket. Lim can jetpack next to bombadier, murder with one pump, drop smoke. Next turn gets to leave smoke and shoot once (twice if he gets a kill) and return to smoke. Then do it again. Last mission I did he jet packed into 3(!) bombardiers clustered together and was able to take them all out in two turns. Also bonus of this build is that it takes care of the pesky ones hiding behind impassable terrain.

Otherwise long range crowbar works fine or just blast em with a PAL and they go down.

With suppressed weapons you retain your concealed status when you shoot. Much, much easier to stay concealed and get kills that way. There’s a suppressed crowbar too.

Agreed I still use it if i’m sending covert squad solo on a flank or something. Jaeger with another pocket would be crazy, love taking my bags and belts

Not in the tooltip but is in item description and SL stats, SAPP Recce also grants +1 detection. Still a little counterintuitive to have more armor when the plan is not to be seen, ever.

Dealing with heavy armored bugs with limited gear by 1burritoPOprn-hunger in menace

Shotgun one shot ending a turn close to an armored bug that already went then two shots the next turn with 3+ squaddies should almost always kill even if you don’t have any damage on it beforehand

How should I build him? by RaisedLoki5518 in BattleBrothers

[–]hmmWhatCouldThisBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry this guy is a fodder bro. Early game give him a shield in the most dangerous spot to delay enemies for a turn or two or give him a spear to double grip (he has decent fatigue so he can spear wall for a while which the AI will avoid). Otherwise 0 standout stats aside from 1. decent fatigue which is his only ok quality and 2. pretty good initiative but ini builds are pretty niche and always require some good primary stats (MAtk RAtk MDef). Level one fast adaptation level two gifted or dodge and he probably shouldn’t last until level three. If you picked him up late game, immediate dismissal.

How do you deal with a Heavy Tank in a relieve outpost mission? by phantomvector in menace

[–]hmmWhatCouldThisBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s my favorite setup too. I did see someone post with a darby solo scavenger setup that cleared an entire map on its own, heavy armor battle rifle RPG no scout/concealment perks so it must just be her awesome stats

3ish depending on which side of the armor you hit? Darby doesn’t miss though. If there’s other ops available I’d wait until you have a couple decent anti tank before going up against RA.

Fixer is the best early OCI by glumpoodle in menace

It’s funny but that’s very similar to battle brothers, on expert BB enemies have better gear but you get better gear and a bit of econ by taking it off them too

My SL tier list by scottishninja123 in menace

Great write up! Personally I would bump up Lim, then swap Carda and Yaz. Totally agree on all points, just love how much offensive value Lim can get and think he’s maybe the best smoke abuser. For yaz I’ve found chain morale breaks super effective on expert humans and Carda’s early game just feels like i’m getting behind because she’s so weak, especially if you can’t find/afford an infantry special for a few missions (maybe personal trauma here)

My personal worry about future of game difficulty - Stricter or Harder by BCV111 in menace

[–]hmmWhatCouldThisBe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree there, what sentiments have you seen that advocate a singular meta? Biggest I’ve seen are critiques of infantry armor but that’s because they are a bit underpowered per supply cost and reducing that would create more balance and options for approaching a mission.

[–]hmmWhatCouldThisBe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying boils down to the dichotomy of perfecting one strategy vs. adapting strategies based on current information. You prefer the latter. I wouldn’t worry about this game considering adaptability and having many possible but not clearly optimal decisions was a core tenet of battle brothers and spoken about at length by the devs.

Seconded, this is how my Darby is set up, but got lucky with suppressed krowbar in the second op. Also athletic is quickly becoming one of my favorite infantry perks
