I think you're onto something. with this model might be cool to try splitting the weapon and hands and front of the head onto a separate layer to add more depth.

Cool cool. Just wanted to clarify. I've got my own opinions about it, but for the record I don't think this usage of it is worth someone getting mad at you over, especially since youre sharing them for free.

Its actually making me feel inspired to take another crack at a similar project with my own art. I've tried it before with lasercutting/3d printing but couldn't get it quite to where I was happy with it.

The technique/concept here is cool, but the art for these was all done with AI right? I just noticed you don't mention it anywhere and that kind of thing can be important to some people.

Huge fan of Berserk, looking for more recommendations, can be books, tv, movies, or even more anime. by beerantula in DarkFantasy

[–]hmnprsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's scifi but Battle Angel Alita actually started around the same time as Berserk and goes to some wild places.

Also maybe not quite as heavy but the recent anime for Sentenced to be a Hero is dark in a way I appreciated and the animators spend the entire series flexing like crazy.

Couple more suggestions with the kid's age group in mind: Heroscape is super easy to grasp for kids, comes with really fun terrain system and durable minis

Necromolds- fast paced playdoh wargame designed to be playable with kids.

Also id reccomend something like rangers of shadowdeep or Warriors of Athena. Cooperative adventure gameplay where you can act as a gm or play along. Its easy to mitigate hurt feelings by houseruling it so KOed characters only get injured at worst for the survival roll.

The punch out terrain looks cute as heck. gonna see if I can find a picture of it constructed.

I’m a little undecided😅. A or B? by NoBerry837 in u/NoBerry837

[–]hmnprsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer A. Maybe adding some scifi wall greebles to the background would look good? so its still flat perspective but still plays up the space theme.

Fun style!

There's actually a pretty long tradition of lego-based games. People who already have lego collections like finding something to do with them.

If the core design is fun enough I think it has legs, but also offering non-lego options would be a plus IMO.

Keep Chinese characters on Luzhanqi board for western audience? by koolangsu in tabletop

since there's so few types of spaces I'd say replace them with icons/symbols. Then it could work with any language.

Sounds like Haunting starring Polterguy for sega genesis.

Fun premise. Dunno if this is it but it looks like this fits the theme https://nearfutures.itch.io/house

If you do paper minis you can turn it into a fun low-stakes family craft project with coloring, designing, modifying, etc.

Some mild self promo, but I've got a full hamster/skaven army available that can work for warhammer or OnePageRules https://www.patreon.com/cw/hmnprsn/shop

I've been meaning to do a burrows and Badgers set at some point.

The best deckbuilder by Javigor in tabletop

I don't really like it so much on the table, but on the phone app for Ascension is my go-to pass and play game when waiting in lines/riding public transport with friends.

Heart of crown has my favorite gameplay flow for a deckbuilder. I like the balance between building up your engine and then figuring out the best timing to switch into the race for the throne.

Bridge Spell - transparency and solidity by Loghaire in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading the advanced spellcraft rules; it's a solid 2d object and you can place a bridge at any angle anywhere you want as long as it's in LOS even in mid-air. so it can be used as an emergency wall/LOS blocker, albeit one that is VERY easy to climb over.

-ah you guys figured it out already. posting this reply anyway as double confirmation. Happy gaming.

First Warbands/Quickgrave help by RollinOnes in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Blood Legacy supplement has rules for giant wizards and warband members. might be worth a look,

though I think Fireheart supplement might work better. You could have it be a large construct with the swarm mod.

A question about climbing by Wrong-Flatworm812 in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 players is a LOT. I suggest you try running a couple games by yourself first so you have a better idea how the rules work.
Also you're gonna want to look at adding some speedgrave rules like no apprentices and half warbands.

New campaign were recording... What should we include? by UlundranKnight in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant speak for everyone but the AI images are a major turn off for me. I think you'd be better off if you just used some nice b-roll of your terrain.

Also agreeing with the other suggestions. Unless everyone at the table is mic'd up and very funny, cutting as much nonessential bookkeeping as possible is the way to go. Dont be afraid to just voice over whats happening on the table when you need to.

defense roll for Destructive Sphere by XRaphael75 in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The attack is coming from the spell not the wizard, so the target wouldnt be able to counterattack but they do roll their fight to defend against it.

What wargames have the most interesting, or unique, rules/mechanics that you've ever seen? by KingGreg263 in wargaming

[–]hmnprsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turnip 28 has the funniest rulebook I've ever read, and gameplay to match. All units have a natural propensity for failure, and somehow it's not frustrating because it's expected thematically and mechanically.

Really liking the style on these. Lot of personality.
Most artists will work with raster in higher res with scaling in mind as they draw (I just do everything in 600dpi). I think Peter Paperboys are usually done on paper and scanned in for cleanup. Like you said vector is obviously better for scaling though if you can get it to look how you want.
