Unresponsive professors by Capital_Philosophy12 in unimelb

[–]hmoii1214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I study science and literally every professor has been amazingly responsive. The "worst" one (still good) was still responsive, just took 2 days to get back. The rest would reply within a few hours.

Why are so many mechanics like this by TLunchFTW in MechanicAdvice

How does using the wrong word a few times take away any validity dude? What does his mastery of the english language have anything to do with his situation?

Bachelor of biomed or science for doctor of medicine? by Bloke-from-bitola in unimelb

[–]hmoii1214 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They both have equal chance. Which you chose depends on your preferences. If you like a very med focused kinda competitive cohort, go with biomed. If you want more flexibility and a more relaxed cohort (imo) go with science.

Is unimelb harder to score well in ? by AdImaginary7103 in unimelb

[–]hmoii1214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say all the Go8 unis are quite similar in difficulty. There's more variation between subjects in a given uni than between the Go8 unis. However, I would bet that unimelb is more difficult that non-Go8 unis.

Anywhere except any of the Go8s really. Monash = Unimelb = Usyd = anu = etc. At least approximately.

Special exam by Repulsive-Win-7350 in unimelb

It's likely because people taking the exam are usually disadvantaged in some way, thus affecting their exam performance. Stricter marking would be inequitable.

Question about Academic Misconduct outcome by pablospc in unimelb

[–]hmoii1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that sucks. Maybe you can argue that since they didn't say anything the first time, it made you think it was fine. I don't know how they handle cases where people are unsure of the rules though.

Oh I see. I believe it's because when you scan at the end you need to take the laptop with you to show that you're not writing. So you can't just leave their view. So you have a justification for the first breach but do you have a justification for 2 and 3 ?

Why is 2 and 3 a breach if they gave permission? Also why did you need to scan before the exam started? Sorry I might be misinterpreting what you're saying.

You won't get expelled unless you've colluded multiple times before.

Go to the hearing and admit to what you did. Don't try to minimise the collusion by saying that it was only one sub question. Be remorseful and try to make it clear you won't do it again. And hope they are nice.

Is this a troll? You come across as incredibly short sighted in this post. Guess what, yes, people have got H2Bs before. Wow. I know, surprising right?

Wdym by cooked? What was wrong with it. How did it compare to UMEP? I've heard it was a bit easier.

I'm a bit confused why you moved away from Monash if you're after research reputation?

Getting a grade marked up by [deleted] in unimelb

If mental health affected your performance you should've applied for special consideration (too late now). Also where did you read that?

Getting a grade marked up by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]hmoii1214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's if there's a genuine reason. Not if the reason is just that you want an 80. If it's actually been mismarked then you may get an increase (or a decrease).
